Everything is cheap when it's on sale. Why couldn't they provide the upgrade for free like every other developer out there?
You know the games been out for a year now?
Correction, the game's been out for 5 years, the scam Redux version has been out for a year.
Correction not every dev does this, ive only seen a few do this the rest have all been set up like this
Which ones have done this? I really can't think of any, only of the ones who didn't do it. Sure, there have been enhanced editions, 10 years or so after the original game, not 2 or 3 years.
Heres one for starters
There have also been The Saints Row 4 remastered. Theres a couple more but they have slipped my mind. But this isnt the only one to do it
True, Sleeping Dogs also did this, but I think it was like 3 or 4 years after release. Saints Row 4 had an all DLC special edition, but not an enhanced edition I think. Still, that's only 1 example. I'm sure there have to be more somewhere, but you've actually gotta look for them, which shows it's not a very common thing. I still think it's a scam.
As far as the examples ive given they are both equally acceptable. I could add some console remasters as well like God of war and such
First of all, I do not agree with you except for a small part. The METRO: 2033 REDUX has increased it's playtime by 6-10 hours for me. Since I got almost got 200 gameplay hours that means I've been playing it over and over (original version), and everytime I've done so I have gotten less playtime than the Redux version. It's new explorations and technical optimizations has greatly improved it, and for some due to the console port issues made the game playable. They've also remastered the ending sequence and gaved it a far more cinematic sense of choice. The only negative thing I could see was the dumbed down version of the artificial inteligence, which made the stealth mechanism far more easier. That goes for the both Redux games.
Than there's the METRO: LAST LIGHT REDUX, that has already been pretty muched fixed. Almost all it's content has been transfered into METRO: 2033, and gave it a major overhaul. But that's not possible to do with Last Light Redux since it already has those parts. They do have new areas and puzzles to explorer in the Redux version, but it was not as much as it were in Metro: 2033 Redux.
The only Redux product that isn't what you call "a scam" is METRO: 2033 REDUX. It has been greatly improved, with lots of technical investments and additional content that makes the fans alot happier after finnishing it almost 20 times.
The new enhanced versions could greatly improve the the first impressions of the gamers, that has not yet played the first ones. The game's core structure would be alot more difficult to build on if it's core is already broken, therefore it would be easier to build on a new structure just like Last Light's. That's why they can't publish it as a new update. So it is practicaly a new game. Also have in mind that they did work alot on this, and therefore they deserve a reward, and it's price and constant sales makes you a cheap basterd. Because why force the new players to go through the Metro: 2033 awful performance hell because people can't pay a tiny sum for a company that did a such wonderfull game?
You should also remember the miracles this company has done by converting a book story into a game, which is something not many game developers can do properlly. They've also remastered the art of horror and apocalyptic atmosphere with it's legendary tier of visual effects, at great performance on multiple hardware components. > We're talking about a developer studio that had an extremely tight budget due to it's nations poor wealth, and previous game market history with tiny products that gave far less pay. They burned their hands permantly just to make this masterpiece, and it doesn't matter if they've done something right or wrong, because they deserve all the money they get; and I would gladly pay them again.
We need more companies like these after the nightmares Electronic Arts and Ubisoft has given us. Deep Silver has given us a bright light of hope, and should continue to do so. Because they actually care about their fans, they care about the customers by giving them the respect. Because why wouldn't we give respect towards those who give us?
You need to look through your screen and see it's wonder, stop looking at your wallet, and see and admire what they have accomplished, do they not deserve this? Or would you go back and pay $60 for an EA/Ubisoft game that will never start?
Why am I a troll? Because I wasn't on Reddit a year ago? Makes sense.
I bought and love it! Plus, when I did, the promotion I got made it cheaper than oxygen.
Think this way:
If they never had remastered it, you would NEVER play it Redux and they would never charge. There would be only the old version and dot.
They remastered it, the employees MUST get paid, and you still can play the old version and NOT pay the diference.
Imagine if Capcom doesn´t charge for the new Resident Evil 1 Remake or Square for the comming Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Resident Evil 1 was 18 years after the original release.
Final Fantasy 7 will be 20 years after release.
Metro 2033 Redux is 3 years after release.
Metro Last Light is 1 year after release.
Something doesn't add up there.
The Redux versions are basically the same game, only enhanced. The resident evil and FF remakes, were proper remakes. It's a complete ripoff.
