Need gas mask filters
I have searched for god mode and have found something
But the text I'm supposed to change is not in the file user.cfg?
I don't really need god mode, just more gas mask filters
I run out and then I die
Any help would be appreciated

You need to search for filters, there should be more than enough, you just need to look around. Anyway, You can buy filters at all stations!

There's plenty on dead bodies and in stashes, you just need to look harder.

This happens to players who idle too much or they look around, search around too much, without progressing. You may need to restart the chapter once you know where to go - each chapter is finishable "from scratch". Make sure you know where to get filters in the chapter.
Had this happen to me while searching for D6. The idiots would just sit there and talk about stuff while im here choking my ass off, and they would just continue talking as I died! I restarted the whole chapter and found 2 stashes and dead bodies I didn't find before, finished the chapter with 8 minutes of filters left. Like others have said, idleing in Gas Mask locations is a no-no, and searching around(But not wasting time) is very important.

Then reload back to the the library or church to get more filters. You can run with the gasmask off for almost 45 seconds, then throw it on for 10 seconds, and repeat. This will get you 10 minutes out of a 1 minute filter.

But the issue is that there's mask AND filter.

When you remove the mask you lose one, so you can't remove it indefinitly.
Otherwise i woulkd have done this part long time ago.

Greetings

The gas mask and its filters thing is the one item that pisses me off about this game and its sequel. It's there for game pacing but I hate it! I like to take my time and explore and see the game world the developers built for us. I hate being forced through a game. Hell I think I'd pay for a coder to remove this for me I hate it so much. :bandit:

It isn't helped by the crappy UI element you have to tell you how much time you have left for your filters and even worse is the bad design element that often doesn't allow you to go backwards to a station if needed for supplies.

The atmosphere and tension of having to scavange is what makes this game good. You have to have a sense of urgency.

Many times they are so odly placed that it's a bit of luck if you find them.

It's counter productive, scavenge makes the game good but the scavenge system is too restrctive.

Removing the mask does NOT magically destroy a filter with 3 minutes left on it. Those 3 minutes will get put back in your total filter pool, and a fresh filter will start each time you put on the mask... this is exactly like reloading a half spent magazine. All games do it, it's totally magic.

If you are having trouble with any recourse, you simply aren't searching enough. There is MORE than enough supplies throughout the game, even on ranger suvival. 30 minutes of filter time leaves plenty of time to spend ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around exploring on Dead City and the nazi Outpost. No story based linear shooter EVER lets you backtrack because the plot does not allow it, the game warns you many times to be prepared before going above ground.

The filters are kept, but the mask still get used.

You have mask supply AND filter supply. You can still run out of mask AND still having time.

Where are the " enough supplies" at the checkpoint in D6 right before you try to activate the 4 generator doors?
You probably cant find alot on that level, because you were supposed to find lots before you even got on the train to get to D6. I know theres some down in a cabinet beside a metro train after you go down the first set of stairs. The ~3 minutes of filters in there might be enough to get you through it.

I had a lot before a damm bug made all my filters disappeared. Apparently a known issue but not even fixed.
