That being said, you're best bet is probably trying to track down a still sealed physical copy. They're starting to get rarer since Redux is the version still in print, but I still see both 2033 & Last Light still floating around occasionally in bargain bins for (SEK equivalent) of 10-25 dollars.
If you don't have that sort of electronics/game store near you, then Ebay or similar sites should be an option. Just be careful you're buying from a well rated seller.
I still have the same desktop. At the time, I never finished the game and quit it pretty early. I recently (Winter sale) re-bought the redux version along with the sequels not having played any of them all the way through and the redux version has more options (difficulty/play style) and has been much more enjoyable than my short lived play of the original.
I suspect they have replaced the old one on most platforms, maybe GoG has it but there is no reason to buy it.

Anything else on the originals could be a non legit seller.
Kinguin or G2A.
Owing to its extensive use of volumetric lighting the original Metro 2033 is more demanding than the Redux version, although the levels in the Redux version have far more detail objects and decals.
It's 10 euro's. You have so much choice lol. Also, use pc gaming wiki website for optimization tricks. Enjoy.
The original has one thing "very better" - sound desing (gunshot sounds...).
As for the graphics, this is discussible, as they have improved some thing and downgraded the others (volumetric lighting...) - so it can run more smoothly.
Sadly, I remember times when Metro 2033 was a benchmark game to test new GPUs.
