Anyone with shadowplay stuttering experience?
Hey guys, i'm currently recording this game for youtube, not linking it because i know that's against the rules and not trying to get more views, but i just want to know if anyone else has tried to use shadowplay/geforce to record gameplay and had mad stutter problems in the playback? I've managed to work around this by saving to my C drive, but i only have 10GB free on this disk which means i've got to keep my recordings short in length, and i can only record one episode, rather than consecutively record, which is bugging me because i really want to play this game! I currently have 2 SSD's which are in use for my C drive, and the other for CSGO, i tried saving to the CSGO SSD but i had the same stutter problems, my final drive is a normal 320GB HDD (replacing a 1TB that died recently until i can get another) but that's where i'm running the game from, so the stutter there is understandable.

If anyone has any experience of this, how did you fix it, or am i doomed to record like this until i can get a new HDD?

There is no reason to have batch loaded games installed to an SSD unless they have super long load times. Installing this game to an HDD will have no affect on framerate. CSGO on an SSD will also have no increase in performance, both of these games already load super fast. Maybe AC, Fallout, or GTAV will have faster level load times, but even for the stream loading in game, there hasn't been a big improvement over 7200rpm drives. I haven't had any major stutter issues from Shadowplay, but it does use some GPU cycles. I've never seen the file output of Shadowplay ever be affected by the drive it outputs to. Are you having frame drops or just stutters?

Frame rate is fine, i'm getting about 80FPS on average while recording i think. The issue is only apparent when i've finished recording, i've tried playing the video back in VLC, WMP and quicktime to make sure it wasn't a codec issue or anything, it stutters in whatever i play it back with. It's just quite annoying as i've tried saving to all 3 storage options and the only one that i can get the smooth 60fps video that i want is my OS drive, which has a very limited amount of space on. i actually have a video which shows the stutter from a while back if you wish to see what i mean, but i'm not interested in putting out content like that, i wouldn't want to watch that so i don't expect others to. :(

My specs are as follows;

Operating System; Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
CPU; I5 6400 Skylake Processor
GPU; MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming Edition
RAM; 8GB 2400Mhz DDR4

video with stutter (this is nowhere near as bad as what i'm getting with metro, this is still cringeworthy but with metro i was losing up to 20/30 frames at a time and it was literally unwatchable; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1XdS-cICoQ

You should use vsync on this game. So recording any game where the output file isn't on your OS wrecks the frame rate? Sounds pretty cray, recording to an SSD must be wrecking it writes, I would never on my main drive. If your OS drive is 120gb or more you should have plenty room to record. I don't even install programs to C unless I have or I know my experience with them will be better with an SSD. But whatever, I feel like burn testing mine because I have some new spares to replace it.

OS drive is only 60GB, I'm pretty much struggling for space since my main drive died on me. Most of the programs I have on my OS drive are programs for course work like Photoshop, illustrator, after effects, 3dsmax etc, the ssd saves me a couple minutes on loading times. xD

Thanks for trying to help man, but I think I'm just gunna have to get a new HDD asap and then I can move my games back over to that and then I can use this 320GB HDD solely as a recording drive, hopefully that should work! :)
