Any way to skip "Librarian" levels?
Dark, eerie, and constantly running out of oxygen for the gas mask...

I don't like them. How do I skip these levels?

You can't simply skip a chapter, lol. I don't like Depository and Archives as well, they're my least favorite next to the Defense one.

Just what comes to my mind, find somebody who has non-cloud save stored in his computer, let him send it to you, disable steam cloud for Metro and play on that save 'if it'd even work'.
How about you just sprint through? Librarians aren't really fast and if they jump into a hole it will only slow them down so that's my best suggestion.

This game will punish you if you play it wrong. You need to keep looking for filters, not just when you almost run out. There are more than enough, it shouldn't even be a problem. (another hint: the librarians won't attack you if you keep eye contact with them. They will just leave shortly after, so you don't even need to fight)

I was able to get past librarians easy enough, up until after the elevator ride... Then I decided to take one out, but, that took up all my ammunition.

Because you don't need to be online to post responses.

This is a super hack that will get rid of the need to find filters. Take your mask off, when you start wheezing really bad, put it back on for a sec and take it right back off. Easy.
As for the librarians if you look at them they don't attack, unless that changed in the redux version (just got this version during sale, haven't gotten that far yet).

If you stare at them, they will not attack.
move fast and think quick

Listen to what Miler tells you, he tell how to handle fear staring you in the face.

Just been replaying the Depository chapter and c'mon, man. Is that where you run out of filters? There is one gasmask right at the start (before you jump down) and another one before you get to another floor and I think there was one as well (shortly after you get barricaded by librarian in the room with diary).

bump.. lol this chapter makes no sense. my frapes drop to 10. All other chapters I have been running at 70FPS@1080 Very high. As soon as that huge monster gets close to me my frames dippp. And I don't have enough ammo because I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up an earlier mission. >,<

You can get through the entire library without firing a shot at a librarian.

Framerates mean nothing to this thread.

There are plenty of filters to be found from other scavengers before you who fared poorly with the librarians. Don't put on or take off your gas mask if you're staring one down; that will break eye contact and they'll attack. If one starts posturing at you, it wants you to move. Back away slowly so it can get past you to whatever hole it wants. Once its gone, move on quickly. If they do attack you, run or use a grenade. Grenade and a shot or two usually will finish them off.
