Yeah, it's easy, but at least it isn't cruise control, which I believe the other difficulties are.
a) there was only 1 instance where you could buy filters in the original and considering theres never a reason to buy medkits and they're on the same page...well, lets just say I bought a bunch in POLIS
b) I though I would need to save up for armor when there was none :(
I can say from experience that playing BF3 and 4 disciplines you beyond what the AI can achieve. I think as we begin to play more multiplayer games with other human players, single player experiences become easier, even on hard difficulties (for FPS's at least).
Of course this doesn't stop the game from giving you a hard time here and there. Take Abe's Oddysee, for example (if anyone remembers that old game). That game is probably the hardest game I have ever played. Forget about Dark Souls being hard. Descent 2 & 3 on "insane" difficulty is a close second.
Of course, this is all subjective. What one person finds hard, another may find it easy. We all have a play style that we like, some work better than others. At the end of the day, if you're having fun playing, then it doesn't really matter.
No wonder its easy for you, most likely any game will be easy if you know everything and done 5 prior playthroughs.
Though I must admit i just skipped one "treasure" and use nonstop the knives ^^
This are hard games cause they are old and the gamers wanted a challenge. Nowadays people complain about games which have a extreme difficulty which is unfortunate. I really cant remember a release of a difficult shooter-game in the last 2-3 years expect some oldschool-shooter like "hard reset" or "the rise of the triad remake"
Anyway, you used to need to choose carefully what upgrades you bought. Now you just buy everything and have a bank roll left over.
I'm wondering what self-imposed rules can I use to increase the challenge. I might try to avoid picking up any weapons so that I will be forced to buy everything...
Find secret area before entering Market Station. There's a 44.cal weapon with long barrel. I swapped out Bast*ard. Had 50 bullets in Market for money. Noticed price of weapons risen and amount for trades/sells are less. Bought a stock (40) for 44.cal and sold shotgun shells--I'm at Deadcity with 36 44.cal bullets and 30 steel balls. Mutunts take more damage than previous games. Watchers are weaker than nostises, but still fight up close and personal.
Are you new to the Metro series? If so, when you're new at a game, it's always harder. I've been playing Metro since the original 2033. Now, or course, I don't play it all the time. But it's like riding a bike, you never forget how to play.
I still find Metro difficult, even after playing all the games in the series. I like to make up my own little challanges as I play. One time I attempted to use just the pistol, or just throwing knives. Most of the time, my challanges get me killed, but that's the fun part, seeing what I can get away with before dying.
