bug? cant pick up gun in armory at start

anyone else have issues with picking up the 5.45 machine gun in the armory? i literally can't progress in the game becaues it wont let me pick it up :/

I know this is way past due, but thank you for posting this. I now just experienced the insanity of "holding e". I blame the aliens....

Yeah... to switch weapons to those on the ground you have to hold the button, as well.
Pretty sure the game's hints told you what to press there... but since everyone picks harder difficulties on their first try with disabled hints.... or just forget 6 years later. That armory becomes a problem.
