I will buy this TODAY, IF the subtitles have been fixed.
There's already a thread about this, but it apparently hasn't attracted any official attention.

When you play with Russian voices and English subtitles, barely a third of the in-game dialogue is subtitled, in the original Metro 2033. Another poster mentioned that only when a character speaks directly to the player you get subtitles, but even that isn't true. After a mission early in the game, there is a scene where you're having a drink with your companions: none of what they are saying is subtitled! Only at the end of the conversation you get a vague line giving your next mission objective, without any context, any info about the plot!

After that I simply stopped playing. I want to go on, I want to finish this game, but it's impossible if you can't follow the story. Metro 2033 isn't any dumb shooter, it's adapted from a book: the story and dialogue matter.
Simply put: I will buy the redux version, absolutely, BUT ONLY if we can get official confirmation that the subtitles have been fixed. If not, 4A and Deep Silver have lost my purchase.

You're making it into something that it isn't. I understand requesting the ability to listen to the dialogue in what you view as the "original author's tongue", but even most movies do not offer this. Most English subtitles are abhorrent and you really have to view something like a Criterion piece to even get a subtitle script worth reading.

Your phrasing begs the question, "Are the English subtitles more complete with English voices?" If that is not the case then it seems as if the English subtitles are simply broken or unfinished and should be completed. If there is a complete English script then this bug should be addressed before release.

As far as I remember, if you play with English voices, every line is voiced in English. So the whole dialogue of the game must have been translated at some point, and yet they didn't implement full subtitles.

I agree that translations are often very bad, but it doesn't mean we the consumers should accept this as normal. ;-)

Yeah, I see what you mean in the second level. Walk right up to two Russians having a conversation, absolutely no subtitles. You didn't add this in the year you were working on the game, 4A? People have been asking for this for four years.
