This includes (some) deeper tunnels and stations, hermetic blast doors for main stations, generators, massive air filtration systems and adjacent bunkers.
Even though the game takes quite a departure from both the books and the real world, a lot of the architectural details actually come pretty close to real life.
A couple of examples:
Hermetic door in the Saint-Petersburg Metro:

Generator in the Moscow Metro:

That being said, it *is* from the cold-war era, so who know how much if any of the equipment works, how much of the space has been repurposed and whether it even worked as designed to begin with.
Plus, afaik, it is designed as short-term solution; Days, not years or decades.
So, yeah, "The Metro" becoming a thing in real life is highly unlikely, but if it was to happen anywhere, it would probably be a Russian metro.
Its the same like saying that the US leaders are enemies with the middle east for the wars over there lol.
Look it up Clinton, Bush, Obama, trump are all good friends with Saudi Arabia and they all having a good time together.
The saudis even given the Medal of Honor to these leaders , there are many pictures of that look it up that's not a secret.
People should love each other a littlebit more instead of trusting these psychopath leaders.
If all people will stand together then these clown leaders have no more power over us.
But don't forget with freedom comes a big responsibility.
