Frontline

Frontline is my favorite mission in Metro 2033. I'm looking for new ways to play it. My latest experiment has been seeing if I can get the Reds and Reich to fight each other, and with enough tenacity, it works! Basically, I kill an absolute minimum of Reds to sneak through the frontline (rather than the secret passageway), and then run down and start a fight with the Reich. I make sure to not kill the Reich soldiers, just antagonize them. The racket draws the Reds out towards the middle. My concern was that they would all just butcher me, no fun, but it turns out if I stay in the dark and don't shoot the Reds or the Reich directly, they'll eventually ignore me and shoot each other while I hide somewhere and watch!

So far, it seems to me the Reich wins every time. I think this is because the Reich has more heavily-armored soldiers than the Reds, so they last longer.

Had even more success with getting the Nazis and Reds to fight each other. I can now get through the Red frontline while leaving most of their army in tact. I draw the Nazi's out, and then fall back to a hiding place between the two. The Nazis and Reds ignore me as the Nazi's invade the Commie base. The Nazis will systematically go through the whole base, even to the other tracks, to kill off all the Reds, as long as I don't draw their attention. So fun!

Haha i did that recently its easier to get the nazis with that.. the problem is that the game doesn't saves so you have to do it very cautious

Yeah, I usually try to hide behind the busted train car or one of the barriers on the way back to the Red base. I make sure to trip an autosave nearby so I can restart fairly close before antagonizing the Reich. Again, interests me quite a bit how superior the Reich are in armor and weaponry.
