What's the point of the Bigun?

The game originally had 3 shotguns which scaled in capacity and were available early, mid and late game respectively. It's a neat progression. The Bigun just seems to fit the same spot as the Shambler except it's available much later and is arguably inferior.

Yes, I know that much. But it seems to fill no useful niche in the game.

It could be used to kill a small group of nosalis. But of course, in addition to its slow recharge and that you can not put many accessories as the focus of the Shambler, it is a weapon as an added, so to speak. But come on, it depends on the player. There are those who may like that weapon.
