Ladder glitch, REALLY BAD (help???)
So if you stop climbing a ladder mid-way, when you try to proceed the player moves UNBELIEVABLY SLOW. Does this happen to other people? Like I climb up, I stop in the middle of the ladder, I press W to continue climbing, and Artyom moves extremely slow, to the point I just load last checkpoint.

I do not know what you mean. When Artyom climbs the ladder, he goes at that rate. If for any case, you had a bug in the middle of the stairs that causes the character to fall, because that would be strange.
But as for the subject, when climbing the stairs it is programmed like this.

Thank you for your kindness. If you write "he goes at that rate" then it is obvious that you did not experience the bug.

This was also posted in 2018, chances are the OP isn't even playing this since nobody said anything through out the whole year.

Pretty much, especially since Metro Exodus released

I've finally gotten around to playing this game, and yes, I have the same issues with the ladders. The one specifically in Lost Tunnel, he goes down the ladder ridiculously slow and up works fine, but like you said, if I stop I then barely move up or down. I've not found a fix for this, sadly.

I don't remember having this bug in the original Metro games, but having just replayed Metro 2033 Redux, this was an extremely common bug. In fact, the same bug is prevalent in Metro Last Light Redux as well. And that's not the only ladder bug either, sometimes it takes me several attempts to climb up a ladder because my character will get to the top and drop down to the bottom again. It's a huge pain in the backside for when I am trying to use stealth for 100% completion, especially the 'FACILITY' level.
Necro-ing a dead post but I've personally found that this bug directly corresponds (at least in my experience) with pulling out the FOV beyond its intended value. I have found that - very rarely - if you come to a complete stop and press "walk" (I believe L-ALT?) then you can begin to move normally.

Turning on V-SYNC fixes this issue for me.

I hate V-SYNC because of response time but it does fixes the bug after turning it ON.
