'Trigger Happy' - What does 2033 consider an 'assault rifle'?
I'm not keen on the assault rifles in 2033. There either is no control, or I just can't find it, but there's no way to shut off auto and go single shot. No matter how nimble-fingered you are, how quick on the 'RMB', or rather off it, you're still going to get the odd unwanted second, and even third, shot - fairly disastrous at the wrong moment, which is usually when it happens.

Is the 'Vintorez' clone, the 'VSV' or something, considered an assault rifle? If it isn't there's a choice of, well no, there's the AK74 variety and that's your lot. Until a good bit later in the game, anyway.

For that matter, when you add a stock to a pistol does the game then look upon it as a rifle? It seemed to take a very long time to obtain 'Cowboy' for 100 enemies killed with a pistol. I get a stock and silencer as soon as I can afford it, and the pistol is the only weapon I use up to finding the Tikhar not long after setting off with Bourbon, and its still the most used beyond that.

I do hope the game doesn't put the 'Bastard' in the assault rifle class. That would be silly.

VSV, AK47, and Kalash 2012 are all considered assault weapons.

The Bastard is technically an SMG/auto pistol.

It really doesn't matter too much in redux as they're all mostly sufficient.

The VVS is probably the closest this game comes to 'one shot, one kill' with the main type weapons, yeah. The others are burst at best, spray & pray at worst.

That being said, might want to check your mouse settings in windows, and see what your double-click speed is set at. Never had a problem with unintentional bursts in this game myself, but many of the guns simply don't have the 'oomph' for that play-style, if that makes sense. Tis' a post-apocalypse setting, after all.

Not counting military grade rounds, naturally. Those are a different if expensive story.

If the VSV counts as an assault rifle I should have had the 'Trigger Happy' achievement long ago - I always buy one from the trader in 'Armory' and use it right through 'Frontline', 'Depot' and at least to the end of 'Black Station' - easily over 100 enemy kills, most of them headshots. Not sure what else to do to trigger it. Even tried using the AK74 model instead, but it still doesn't trigger.

I tried using the MGRs as ammunition for the first time last night. Now, I've used 5.45 FMJ in many other games, most particularly the 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.' series, but I've never noticed them setting the target on fire. Every 'Metro' 5.45 hit produces flames - what's that about? Or is it just to point out that you're burning money by shooting people with it?

Quite funny watching a heavily-armored Red or Reich soldier running around with his head on fire, though.
