The Bastard is technically an SMG/auto pistol.
It really doesn't matter too much in redux as they're all mostly sufficient.
That being said, might want to check your mouse settings in windows, and see what your double-click speed is set at. Never had a problem with unintentional bursts in this game myself, but many of the guns simply don't have the 'oomph' for that play-style, if that makes sense. Tis' a post-apocalypse setting, after all.
Not counting military grade rounds, naturally. Those are a different if expensive story.
I tried using the MGRs as ammunition for the first time last night. Now, I've used 5.45 FMJ in many other games, most particularly the 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.' series, but I've never noticed them setting the target on fire. Every 'Metro' 5.45 hit produces flames - what's that about? Or is it just to point out that you're burning money by shooting people with it?
Quite funny watching a heavily-armored Red or Reich soldier running around with his head on fire, though.
