Correct Order of Play For Metro Series

Intro:
I have noticed a fair few people are confused about the order of the games endings and each titles place within the series.
Fear not, I am from the darkness to light the way.

This is the correct order for the series based on Canonical endings:
1. Metro 2033 Redux Good ending
2. Metro 2033 Redux Bad Ending (Canon)
3. Metro Last Light Redux Bad Ending
4. Metro Last Light Redux Good Ending (Canon)
5. Extra LL content
6. Metro Exodus
7. Exodus Expansions

Note on the Novels:
There are three novels: Metro 2033, Metro 2034 and Metro 2035.
It is important to further note these are the original novels and the games are adaptations.
Furthermore the content is A HELL OF A LOT more psychological, mature and dark.
They are an excellent read IMO so check them out too for the true roots of the Metro series. The author is a great fella.

What each game has:
Metro 2033
- The normal story, with no DLC.
- Ranger Mode Difficulty, new Achievements and two new weapons: the Heavy Automatic
Shotgun and the Volt Driver. (FREE ON STEAM. Cost $ on XBL.)
Metro 2033 REDUX
- This version includes the entire game with Ranger modes.
- Rebuilt on the Last Light engine
- Survival mode for the survival game play ("harder")
- Spartan (run and gun action mode)
- Find safes and keys around the levels (ALWAYS IN THE SAME LEVEL AREA)
- Most levels are combined into several larger levels now, with better environments
Metro Last Light -
- The original story without DLC or ranger modes (that was DLC)
- 4 DLC add ons
- Faction Pack (3 new levels)
- Tower Pack (solo Metro challenges/trials)
- Developer Pack (Shooting Gallery, AI Arena, Metro Museum, Solo mission - The Spiders'
Nest - with some new gear)
- Chronicles Pack (3 single player missions as: Pavel, Khan, Anna.)
Metro Last Light REDUX-
- Level changes/additions
- Last Light REDUX comes with ALL of the content in Last Light (including all of the DLC and changes.)
There is NO DLC. (this includes the DLC Ranger mode.)
Metro Exodus -
The main game. (Epic Game Store)
Season pass . (Epic Game Store)

The best way to buy these:
Right now (27-09-2019) Metro Exodus is only available on PSN, XBL and EGS for PC.
For NEW PC players it is recommended to get the series on EGS, as you can get a cheap bundle, (Metro 2033 Redux is also free for a week currently, that's 27 September 2019 until October 3rd.)
For returning players -
Metro Exodus will be available on Steam within a year of its release date. Just hold out a little longer.)
Console
The Metro 2033/Last Light pack goes on sale regularly on PSN. Can be certain this applies to XBL so lookout for Halloween, Black Friday, Winter and Christmas sales!
Metro Exodus is available on PSN and XBL with its season pass also available.

It is NOT recommended to buy the older versions for PS3 PSN or Xbox360 XBL.

Unfortunately I need to own the game to create a proper guide and I own the series on PS4.

It all depends what you want to get out of playing. It is very thrilling and intense to play on the higher difficulties more centered around survival but if you just want to have fun and experience the world I'd recommend an easier setting.

There's no point playing if you are not having fun.

if metro 2033 is first then why pavel died in metro 2033. i thought i have to choose pavel fate on last light,is it different guy with the same name ?
