How is the Stealth?
I have been searching through topics and haven't really found a definitive answer to figure out if I should buy this or not.

From what I found, Metro 2033 the original had stealth where if you are seen, everyone knows where you are, but it was challenging and worked well with the rest of the game's systems... but the AI had problems so that you had to escort a suicidal NPC in a mission. Metro Last Light made you basically invisible if you were in the dark, but made sure that if someone saw you, not everyone knew where you were.

I heard that survival mode was intended to capture the original experience, but what is your experience of the stealth? Is it the best of both worlds? I don't care about graphics and I'm would play on ranger hardcore.

Redux fixes much of the AI, stealth mechanics, and difficulty balances.

If you want blind enemies, pick spartan. Survival mode uses nearly the same difficult stealth AI as 2033, but, when spotted, not all enemies know where you are forever. You can slip away and comeback without them knowing your exact location, though they may be alerted.

So from a gameplay standpoint it nails it?

I say it is hard to do better than Surv RHC for stealth mechanics. It can be easy if you know all the patrol routes after you play through campaign a few times.

Easy if you know all the patrol routes, as in Thief would be easy by the same method?

You can sneak through most stations without killing any humans, this is very hard to do without some practice learning patrols. Though even the hardest difficulty doesn't require you to die a few times to beat it, so it isn't pace breaking. It is a more organic experience than the original Thief (or say MGS) imo.

If you don't mind me asking, does anyone have any objections to the stealth?

No one? Then why is which version's better a debate?!

Redux fixes the stealth AI issues that plagued the original games (2033 too brutal and LL too blind). Use Survival mode for not blind enemies.

Understood, I was just checking to see if anyone disagreed or had problems.

And... apparently no one does despite the topic returning every few weeks/months.
