So has anyone read the novels?
This game has got me interested in reading them possibly, just curious if anyone has read them and what they think about them

The first one is great, close the game but much less actiony, same overall plot. The character names are way more russian and somewhat harder to understand, not impossible. It a lot slower, Artyom likes to talk to himself alot, essentially those journal entries from Redux and LL. It is a coming of age story.

2034 follows hunter after his encounter with the dark ones, his personality shattered. Most would call this the worst in the series. I liked it, it was darker and more mature, but I still never finished.

2035 follows Artyom, starting AFTER the events of LL as a 26 year old adult; it really is for the game players it seems, but the book worms might just read 2033 and 2035 and still understand Artyom's story just fine. D.G. wanted to finish Artyom's story so the franchise can move on and expand. LL is the redemption story as a game, 2035 seems to be that way as a novel.

You can play and read 2033 side by side and realllly compare the differences, but finish LL before you read 2035 imo.

I read 2033, it differs a fair bit but the main story is there. Much slower but it is a mysterious world they live in. 10/10

Start with 2033, if you like it, then there is a 2034 and 2035 for you to enjoy.
P.S. Experience from reading may vary from one book to another. Personally i love 2033 and 2035. 2034 falls a bit short of them.

There is plenty of Metro universe autors and books in Russia. But most of them are in russian, as it's a big thing there. I haven't stumbled on any translated/ non russian followups.

I've read almost all of them (including the not Glukhovsky ones), you can find all of them in german at least...
The other ones aren't that great in my opinion, they are ok but don't manage to come really close to the athmosphere of the originals.
Metro 2035 is interesting but kind of destroys the metro world/ my image of this world in the end, it's interesting to read but in my opinion it doesn't look like Glukhovsky planned that when he created the Metro world (the guys who have read it will know what I mean..)
2033 is a masterpiece though.

All are available on amazon in multiple, languages, You can find the original 2033 official english translation PDF for free all over the internet. 2034 might have a pdf version but you are better off trying the real deal.

Funny thing, 2034 hardcover was being sold on amazon for an average of $70 around the time 2035 came out Dec 2016 in english. I was tempted to sell my own hardback copy of 2034 but only ~$50 profit not that I cared too much. Now, I see 2034 is back to a not insane price again but still higher than it's old average. The current is still much more than the ~$20 i paid for it.

2035 seems to be unrealsitc compared to 2033 (Game Version) Artjom blew up the Botanical garden, and his Home Station, in 2035 (Book) he is at his Home Station again.

All the books are brilliant but they are noting like the game. If you are into world politics, religions , human nature..... then read it. If you are interested in mutants and killing them... well this book is might not be for you. The first one focuses on religions and notions. The second one is focused on feellings and love and the third one is focused on global politics and Glushovsky's thoughts masked into the "metro universe"

Well he didn´t use nuclear rockets and the Botanical garden is a few km away from his home station which is under the earth btw so that makes sense...

Think I heard that wrong, it was mostly destroyed by the Dark Ones. But one thing I don't understand is, why they didn't brought the tunnel leading to Botanitscheski Sad to collapse
