Sadly its true, check the official codemasters forums, F1 general area. :(
its not the same as career mate, in that mode you pick a CURRENT driver and drive as them for a year. Its not like career mode was where you put your name in and start at a low team. thats gone!
its just "pick a current driver" and race as them. sorry but no matter how you spin it, thats NOT career mode.
"Compete as your favourite FORMULA ONE star in the new Championship Season and push yourself to the limit in the challenging Pro Season mode."
That doesn't sound anything like Career mode to me. That sounds like playing a single season as one of the current drivers from F1.
Personally, I'd rather have an actual Career mode where I can play multiple seasons. I'd also like to be able to use my own name and start with a weak team and work my way up through the ranks (sign better contracts) over the course of those multiple seasons.
I might buy Project CARS instead but it's not the same as F1 :(
