Overheating Engines and Very Cold Tyres!
hello guys, i'm new on Formula 1 games and i have some questions to ask. first, i want to ask why my tyres especially rear tyres are cold for a very very long time. i tried to heat them up by breaking very late but that doesn't help at all and stays at the same temperature (blue). and then because of that, my engine is overheating very easily even in the first sector in Chine. i tried using different car (i use Ferrari and then switched to a superior engine Mercedes) but that doesn't help and that keeps happening. do you have any idea what is going one?

Hi

Ist that with default setup or a customised one? With default setups i usually do not struggle to keep my tires level in regards to tire temps. However, braking late wont really heat up your tires, better try to change geometry settings on your rear (camber) and try different tire pressures. Are you driving with traction control enabled? Might help to set it to 'medium' or off and than just create a bit more wheel spin than usual, that should heat up your rears in no time. Just make sure you dont overdo it

i try both default and customized (aarava's) setup and that doesn't change anything. and yeah i play with full traction on. if that's really the case, i might gonna change it to medium or even turn it off. thanks for your advise. do you have any idea about what happens with my overheated engine?

temperature simulation seems to be pretty accurate in this years game. There was a bug that caused your engine to overheat too quickly when running either lean or rich mixes but that has been fixed by the recent patch.
However, running your engine too long with anything else than standard mix can cause overheating even post patch depending on track layout, as both, rich and lean are suboptimal states for an engine.

Other possible causes for engine heat issues are:

+ running too close to the car in front of you - dirty air decreases efficency of cooling sytem
+ extended slow parts of a track - slower speed means less effective cooling
+ overrevving engine and missing shift points

odd because as im now using ferrari hes always telling me my brakes and tires and engine is hot ...on 3rd season 1st two i usedtheop mercedes tho and didnt have issues
slowly bumping up in difficulty
im now on hard and still win at times
i always dread monco tho lmao

I only had engine overheating issues when shifting gears late/running engine at high rpm for too long. So if you start overheating then try shifting gears a bit earlier.

im playing on expert with williams, always in race for podium thanks for the customized car set ups and never had cold tires issues, or overheated engine issues...i had punctures only sometimes, but i know its because of my driving style.
and using automatic gear, i think its not a bug or ive never met with your issue yet
my bigger problem the ai damage realism...completing 100% races and no crashes, mechanic failures at AI...if there is a crash AI can race forward or can go into the pit..but if I have a crash my whole race is wasted...like in real...so dont understand that AI damage realism performance why couldnt be at least the same as mine in the game :(

i use standard mix and still overheating in the first sector at china. i use automatic gears, do you think that's the cause?

thats strange, i'm running Ferrari in career mode with all assists off and i never ran into engine heating issues on standard mix. I never tried auto gears but i'd expect the game to shift rather below the optimal RPM than overrevving. Extremely slow sections like in Monaco can cause your engine to slightly overheat (getting orange) but it will cool down on the next short straight. But in China, the first sector has enough straights to cool it properly.

Is your engine overheating to the point were it loses power? that would require it to be full red for some time. Or is it just your engineer stating that its overheating? Dont trust Jeff too much, he's sometimes kind of a drama queen, always check your temp display

I can run lap after lap with the Ferrari with fuel mix at rich. I dont seem to get any over heating?

no it goes orange at the end of the first sector but finally becomes red during the long straight at the third sector where i can't get past 250 km/h. Jeff never told me about the engine though, when i ask about vehicle condition he only mentions about brake and tyre condition.

i don't know what exactly happen but i assume my engine is overheating because i kind of have a poor start where i lost about 3-5 places from the grid and my engine always started to lose power at the end of the 'S' turn after the start/finish line.
