The difference is, that you only drive for 1 year as a real driver and cannot change team within the season. The good thing is the presentation.
It's made more like in real life.
That means you get cutscences before each session, where the commentators tells you sth. about the teams, the track and drivers. So it is more like on tv.
So you can still drive a whole season, but not with your own name and you cannot change a team within the season.
