getting land back when selling furnitures?

Is it possible to get land back when selling furniture? I have the upgrade to get resources back when selling furniture but I guess land doesnt count. I am locked out of completing a quest because there is no way for me to buy more land ( Need more coin capacity, but need land to buy coin capacity). if its currently not a feature I think land should be refund when you sell furniture as it kind of makes sense to get the space back when you no longer have something.

EDIT: I guess its a bug? I expanded the furniture and it says dispose of 1 to get +3 land back but it does not give the land back.

I definitely get land back when selling furniture. To be clear, you're hitting the trash bin button, not just deactivating the furniture, right?

Land does get refunded as it should.
What often happens for me is that I have some buildings on autobuild, and the instant a bit of land is available by removing one building, something else gets built immediately.
(Apart from what Yojo said, the Plus/Minus are just for activating, you need to really remove the building)

I think I was somehow in a defecit? I did turn off all my auto buys because at first I thought thats what it was doing, but I had to sell 7 market stalls before it changed from 0 available.

maybe related to the free furnitures you get from completing quests?
