Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

How does this differ from Rune Factory?
So I'm a little curious, I'm a massive RF fan, played all the games aside the PS one's which wasn't my cup of tea looking at them, grew up playing them on the DS etc, even had frontier on the Wii (good game!). Guardians of Azuma is being sold as more of RF re-imagined, or a spin-off i guess, which is fine, any excuse for more games. I don't see much difference here to the normal RF genre though, something about town building being more present maybe is one thing, the "farm" screenshots look a little lackluster (looks more like a garden than a field) but otherwise it looks mostly the same, maybe being a "dancer" will have some changes to combat which is fine, RF isn't known for indepth combat anyway (which is fine, i enjoy simplistic sometimes) but otherwise, i don't see many differences. Just wondered if anyone know knowledgeable on this entry might know whats the plan.
For the record, I'm not looking for changes to complain or praise them, just curious, i will almost certainly get this entry as i enjoy most the entries anyway, i just enjoy the village sim games which merge with rpg and farming.

I have the same question, it dont look that different from the mainline RF games, we need more info on that. My only hope for now is for the game to dont lose what made RF unique in the first place, for it to stay truth with its origins, first and foremost a japanese anime farm sim. RF5 already had its fairy share of issues and I would not like to it to repeat from this point on for the good of the longevity of the franchise

it's not a RF game. they only recently took the name RF because no one is excited for this game,

Rune Factory = Anime and Harvest Moon! not genishin impact!

I suppose this is going to be something like Oceans/Tides of Destiny, with main characters being Earth Dancers instead of Earthmates, weapon types unseen in the main series, very different important game mechanics from the main series, no character portraits during dialogues.

I just hope that they will not mess up the farming, oversimplify character dialogues and lock story progress behind certain friendship levels with ALL residents like what they did in Oceans/ToD.

I actually enjoyed Oceans for what it was. Golem vs "Godzillas" fights although simplistic, provided some variety in gameplay. Aside from that it was standard Rune Factory stuff...

I just hope that they will flesh out combat, Romance / Dialogue, farming can stay the same lol ( don't fix stuff that isn't broken ), improve graphics and animations and add lenghty story that doesn't last "2 in game months....( like in Rune Factory 5 ! Lol. )"

I 100% agree on not fixing which isn't broken, i think RF farming is simple but effective, its got the intricate details for the average fan (soil level/quality) to not be overwhelmed but also doesn't have to be fully used to be still enjoyable (such as gold/giant/starfall in 5's case crops etc). I think romance/city stuff is mostly good, maybe make a few extra character events but that could be me being picky, i think it's pretty decent enough.

Story certainly needs a buff, a good story which isn't rng reliant (4 ._.) but isn't 50 seconds long (5 ._.).

But honestly, RF is mostly a case of not fixing what isn't broke, the games have many areas which can be improved but none are too offensive, i just kind of hope they build the next entry with PC/next gen consoles in mind... not nintendo. I got nothing against Nintendo's models and nothing against RF being on it, I just see the game having big potential if built outside the switch and ported to it later.

A bit like Monster hunter, it moved from handheld and got amazing, i hope RF could achieve that, not literally the same, i don't care for it becoming maintain stream.

RF should at least have deep crafting and farming mechanics like in 4.

Do you have a source confirming this wasn’t originally a Rune Factory game?

I think it's mostly the setting. It's very Japanese-y VS the generally western based fantasy of RF. I think they realize that such an idea should not be main series so that it does not alienate fans who want more of the same.
