Very disjointed, no clear design was thought of during creation. It takes the fun bits of Stoneshard but also a lot of the bad ones.
Multiple systems that do not interact with each other well, a painfully slow tutorial that makes you walk back and forth doing 10 fetch quests.
Crafting can only be done at a personal storage box, leading to multiple transfers of items back and forth and waiting until an NPC meanders over to do the task.
Very RNG-tilted combat with misses, fumbles and critical hits. For some this is a plus, for me it's more of a malus.

But most importantly, the starter portraits are terrifyingly ugly. To get more of them, you have to find corpses with ID Tags and then make a new character, restarting your playthrough so you don't look like an ogre.

What kind of brain-dented idea is that? Why do you have to clear progress just to change an icon? I tried everything from save editing, to item spawning but there is no way around it.

Was expecting better, horribly disappointed.

Really enjoyable dungeon crawling experience. I understand how some people dislike durability, oxygen etc. systems, but I like having to be prepared.

Wow, mixed. I did not expect that.
And I absolutely do not understand it.
I'm 14 hours in and am just getting the sense of the sheer scale and complexity of the game. How can you even say the game is a certain way if you do not understand it. I don't think people understand it yet.
I've read a bunch of top level negative reviews, and I'll address just two.
The top one is to do with the credit system and how it gimps you arbitrarily and unfairly.
Maybe this was the case at the time of that review and it's been since patched. Right now, recycling the methane ore gives you credits, and selling equipment and consumables you don't use at the supply store gives tons of excess cash. 100% invalid and unfair criticism at the moment.
Another top negative review, with a few more hours in goes into a bit more detail, and is more balanced. Unfortunately in the end it still gets it wrong by criticising the size ... and scope? Game is too big. Inventory fills up too quick. Too many consumables. Too many possible debuffs. It's just a criticism of complexity.
The game does not force you to loot everything... You will need to loot some things, yes. Methane .. always, definitely copper. Iron, you don't really have to because you can recycle equippables for it. Random equipment is worth some cash, but you can still pick and choose and be efficient. The materials, junk and story items pages will never fill up. This is actually one of the most generous inventory systems of survival games.
Combat is good. Different styles of monsters with different strategies, somewhat complex ai.
There is a ton of content. Stuff, people, dialogue, little quests, mostly fetch stuff that has you travelling around, but the rewards are worth it. The game boils down to managing your time, and there are some things that can be ignored without a penalty, and in fact maybe should be ignored. There's always the threat of the infection to race against.
What i'm getting at is yes, the game is complicated and big, but that's not a bad thing. It got smaller the longer I played it, and realized what I should and should not do, and that's a good thing. Games should reward you for learning them.
I enjoyed Subterrain one, so I'll admit, i'm a bit of a fanboy. But that doesn't mean i'm not right. I don't think anyone knows everything this game has to offer yet. The sheer scope of content combined with the work the developer is putting in still makes knowing the game unlikely. And most of all, I am 100% sure people do not know how to play it properlyl.
I'm looking forward to playing this one for awhile.
