component factory ignores required resource
[stable 1.4.8] I have a chain of component factories in the same conveyor loop so they will automatically compute all of the required crafting. This works fine most of the time, but when two component factories need the same resource/component, the lower level factory will ignore the passing resources, even if the other component factory already has all that are required of that type. I believe this to be a bug. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and is there an easy fix for it?

Known issue; for additional information please view the following steam discussion:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/285920/discussions/1/3113648183799785195/#c3114774719339306863

regarding a "quick fix" generally the error occurs due to a combination of the following two factors:

1) the component factory is misaligned with respect to the nearby conveyor belt, usually with its output *preceding* its input

2) The component factory has more than one "dongle" attached to it. Generally it is best for a base tech to have 4 component factories, one without a dongle, and the other three each bearing a unique copy of one, and only one of the the available dongles as shown in the template base below.

This issue has been around for over 3 years. Like you said, component factories sometimes just ignore resources they need from the belt. Other times they won't even make requests at all despite there being an active fabricator recipe. It makes any sort of automation pretty much impossible. My layout isn't anything crazy, just a bunch of silos, 4 component factories in increasing tiers, and a line of fabricators. This REALLY needs to be fixed.

This not working is very annoying. In order to make it try to craft whatever, if it gets stuck, you have to replace the factory, not even manual feeding works. At the very least it does give your stuff back, but this NEEDS to eventually be fixed, because it makes automation practically impossible when it comes to component requiring fabrication. It will get stuck sometime, for certain. This is still an unfixed bug, it should've been spotted by now.

Dang, I tried this, and it's not working for me at all... what an annoying bug. It makes crafting complex things impossible, unless you use a single component factory and make every single piece manually, which is a completely unreasonable chore.
Wh-- removing and re-attaching the FABRICATORS seems to have helped. What in the world..???

Known issue for 3+ years; Briefly, the "cause" is thus:

Fabricators when requested to produce blocks "read' the conveyor system in reverse *from* the Fabricator (LIFO) which does not "mesh" properly with the way "Techs" are saved utilizing steganography "outward" from the anchor / cab "origin" block.

Oh god, that's dire. Thank you for the info.
Are there any mods fixing this issue

this one helps some, or snapshot-swap

fixes the glitch where raw chunks block the refinery exit

pretty sure no extra block mods needed
add terminal\scrapper\magnet to back tails leading in, and fabs along the front by the comps.
side note, hawkeye fabs go lengthwise so red exit chute points out, took 2-3yrs to finally notice that...
