A better way to store chunks?
There really needs to be a beter way to store all the resource chunks. after I fill about 10-15 mega mix silos with chunks my game begins to stutter so much it's near impossible to do anything. Maybe an SCU for storing chunks would be good? I'm running on a 980 ti with 32 gigs of ram, this shouldnt be an issue. It's most likely that animating all the chunks is causing the problem, or the sheer number off them. Either way, a better storing system is deserately needed.

it also seems that crafting certain things becomes impossible for me after a certain point because I watch the resources a fabricator is requesting go right past it over and over again. been trying to craft cruise missiles all day and I just finally gave up after watching the components go right past the fabricator entry point for the whole day. Rearanged the whole thing and nothing changed it just keeps cycling the parts around. Alternately, make the stores have more stock, because I'd gladly BUY the cruise missiles if the shops ever had them, and driving around to all the shops gets tedious especially when looking for rare parts

...
If you are filling up that many silos, then you are not actively using the chunks. Since you are not actively using the chunks, why don't you use a fabricator to condense them into Blocks and store them in the SCU? The exact thing you are asking for has been in the game already for a few weeks (at the time of this comment).

The shops will carry Cruise Missiles if you have unlocked them (by either constructing one or stealing one from an enemy). The Hawkeye terminal is much more likely to have one than the GSO Trading Station.

It's a known Bug that very complicated items (like Cruise Missiles) can cause a Base / Assembly Line to "malfunction," even moreso if said Base is poorly designed. It is best to construct such items one component at a time, rather than attempting to build the finished item in a single queue.
Mouse-hover over the item in the Fabricator to see what components are required to build it, then construct those Components individually, and Fabricate the item once you have the Components

The thing is I AM using those chunks, to make railguns, LOTS of railguns, and I dont want to run back and forth redositing blocks of resources back into the silos.

Next issue, Ive maxed out Hawkeye and had cruise missiles discovered, I still never see them in the hawkeye terminal or the shops. I'm lucky if theres even a single railgun in there.

Finally, seems a bit dumb to have to manually make all these things when the auto system is in place. Why not fix that before adding mp which is only going to create a SLEW of bugs that they will undoubtedly work on before fixing this.

In all honesty its more effort than I'm capable of at this point with me working as many hours as I do, so I'll wait a year and come back to it, see if they fixed it.

Thanks for replying though, now I understand some of the problems I'm having. I appreciate you not being a ♥♥♥♥ about it.

Yes, the crafting system certainly has a slew of a half dozen or so distinct bugs, which make crafting the top tier items miserable/impossible unless you've figured out a design that is exactly right.(Fixing them seems to be waiting on dev coder time eventually being freed up from multi-player development.)

For example, to make Cruise missiles (with Seed AI components) your Fabricator must be able to 'see' a refinery on their conveyor, even if it doesn't need to refine any resources to make it (all pre-refined).

See this bug report thread (on that fault), here, which includes example compact manufacturing techs that you can download: https://forum.terratechgame.com/index.php?threads/0-7-5-7-wont-craft-blocks-with-exotic-components-e-g-seed-ai-without-unnecessary-refinery.12133/

Other designs available elsewhere on the forums.

With game 'lag' in general, you need to be sure that there are no massive piles of mined resources laying on the ground within about 600 meters (so can be well out of sight).

A few hundred chunks on the ground is worst than a massive base.

Also, silos are on an *unanchored* tech, their resources will cause far more lag, since only anchored base techs use simplified physics for their chunks.

Finally: use compressed resource blocks! Immediately turn them into bricks at the site you harvest or mine them. Then feed them to your base on demand. Can then have a tiny base (you can move about easily, if needed).

I'm sorry, but this is essentially the 'correct' way to do things, currently. No good reason to harvest, even - once you've mined an Erudite seam dry, you should have enough cash laying about to buy most of the refined resources you need from your local shop(s).

I find that having just the right amount of resources on store in silos works better on crafting bases.

Turn them into Resource blocks.

so essentially crafting is worthless to me. I'll come back to it in like a year.

Hmm are you using silos with different kinds of resources? I find it easier to have them separated into individual types, ie unrefined, refined and components with separate conveyor system to the crafting line.
