Resource Respawn
I've read a few different things about this and I wanted to know for sure. Do resource nodes (trees, rocks, crystals, etc.) ever respawn?

Yeah, I just saw that happen seconds ago myself. Any word from anyone about rocks or crystals?

they respawn, some resources have seams that can be dig out with miner, but i prefer to scrap parts to get resources

The Devs confirmed that some resources do regrow, but others (like veins) DO NOT. This is to encourage players to explore, rather than sitting in one area forever.

one reason mobile bases are so needed. Been working on one for a while.

Yeah, seems that mobile bases are the name of the game if some stuff doesn't respawn. That, or scrapping parts. Or selling wood for other compressed resource blocks. Lol

The problem with mobile bases is difficult terrain and sheer size.

While they don't help a huge amount with turning, I've found the GeoCorp tracks make a very large tech much more managable.

Anyway, so far I've found that trees and luxite (yellow crystal formations in the Grasslands) definitely respawn. Trees will respawn right in front of you but I'm not sure if luxite will, or if you have to leave the area first. As far as I can tell the other crystal formations and rocks won't respawn.

Something I'm not too clear on is whether or not we're really meant to explore. Sure, the particularly valuable resources don't respawn, but if we're meant to explore, then what's the deal with the auto-miners? From what I can tell, they don't actually harvest anything unless you're in the area, making them useless for any sort of nomadic gameplay. They take long enough to get resources that just waiting for them isn't really viable either.

Well, I have left an auto miner outside of my render range, and once I came back I had a nice pile of resources to collect. On another note, once you get to the point where you can build a mobile base, you already have the capability to just about wreck any other tech you find, making resources practically useless. I still use resources to craft some high-teir stuff, but other than that I have turned towards hunting & destroying. Missions help a lot with that too.

I'll keep watching the auto-miners then. Probably put a silo on one to see if it fills up more easily.

As for resources being useless, I was thinking about this earlier, and I think you're right. The easiest way to get any ends up being to just muder everything and scrap their stuff. It'll be interesting to see how they balance the campaign in the future. Thanks for the info man.

if it appears under bases, techs or anything that can be driven or have a cab attached to, go into build beam and try driving forwards. you can move a tech slowly while in buildbeam, which i recently discovered. i use it when i get stuck on things.
