Request : option to switch AI passive unless attacked
Hello,

I really like TerraTech, playing it at slow paces since 2015, but something i dislike a lot is having to take care of my base.

I love to hunt, and maybe get destroyed by mobs, but i hate having my base under attack every 5 minutes when i'm close to it.

So, if you could have an option to keep the base unattackable, i'd gladly use it.

We wouldn't want to add this as an option - but we would like to give the player the oppurtunity to defend themseves/avoid being under constant attack.

Try watching this video on how to defend your base - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjHgk0JsLww&t=11s

Yeah, but it's not about being able to defend my base, it's more about the constant arrassement.

It's fun 10 times, not 100, even less 1000.

And i don't want to play sandbox neither. I wart a middle ground, so an option to turn AI passive unless attacked first would be perfect.

Thanks

Adding an option like that isn't something we'd be interested in doing pre-1.0. We'd rather balance the game in a way that supports this style of gameplay.

Where are you building your base?

In my last game, i build it next to the first station i've found, so grassland. It's base's attacks but also the constant fights everywhere that is boring after a while.

It's really the only point that lowers my joy while playing TerraTech.

I hope you will consider doing something inbetween "Sandbox" and "Story" mode, soon enough. A single switch to turn IA passive unless attacked will be totally perfect, but hey, it's your game ! (but i am playing it), hah !

Anyway, you did a great job since the first time i've played, and TerraTech is becoming an excellent game.

The problem is early game you don't have much in the way of base defense.I got screwed over once cuz an enemy tech spawned right next to my base and my base was destroyed before it really even had a chance to put defenses in it. Perhaps a spawn free zone should be made around player bases to prevent them from spawning too close.

No enemy Techs should spawn near a player's base. There is a safe zone around all player Techs where enemies shouldn't spawn. If this happens - it's a bug.

I already have several times mobs poping right under my nose while i was simply browsing the inventory and thinking how to build my base. Also i've had mobs poping within the first 2 radar circle quite often.

When you say "player tech", it mean the vehicles (all, included in "garage" without AI), or only the current one, or even all rooted building ?
Jamie Jun 15, 2017 @ 8:14am
Yep - everything that is player owned or 'friendly' has a safe zone.

The next time an enemy spawns near your base - can you exit the game immediately and send us your OUTPUT_LOG and game please please.

I guess you mean the save file ?

Will do next time.

Output log please Tchey. Save isn't much use once it's happened I'm afraid. A video of it happening would be pretty handy too. Here's how to locate the output log :)
