:( Kind of sucks that the current version is no longer fun and there's no timetable for when it will be fun again (IMHO of course)
In the future you'll be able to play all the battle stages for the Waves game mode (Ring, Subway, Containers, Wheel, Buoy etc.), there is only Grind for now because it's the most basic stage when it comes to implementing Waves, and also an A.I.-friendly level too:
- it's completely flat with really little obstacles, only the railings which are static and unharmful and the A.I.s can just move around them with ease
- the railings are low, and since the current throwing implementation isn't that great A.I.s will still be able to lift or throw a player in a grinder due to the low force/skill needed to get someone over the small railings (the were capable of throwing K.O. players in older updates but that ability has been removed due to changes to grabbing and throwing that made the old A.I. behaviour for throwing players not suitable for the new grabbing and throwing parameters, so the devs will have to re-set them)
- there is a really simpleentrance to the stage (the door) that the A.I.s can come in easily (other stages need more complex manouvers for entering them, for example for entering Billboard the A.I.s would need to use the ladder to the left of the stage but they can't climb yet so they cannot currently enter the stage), I imagine the next stage that will be playable in Waves will be Incenerator (at least once the A.I.s will get the jumping behavior back, as that's gone too alongside the throwing one apparently...)
So we won't get RoofTop back but we'll be able to play in ALL of the other stages instead, which in my opinion is 10000 times better! Also if you liked a flat stage Ring and Suway are enough "flat" to be a nice replacement for RoofTop, and they're also more intresting and prettier-looking too...
The new camera seems very low to the ground. On Rooftop it was isometric almost and far out, on Grind it is alomost down to the ground with very bad depth perception shown
I saw this video and I tought the stage is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun, then someone came with his 4ss long technical explanation about why the stage isnt there anymore. If some people find the stage funny, why devs didnt leave it?
Just check out all the recent reviews and tell if its fine to remove things people enjoyed because it was just stages for debugging sh!t. If for some reason people likes roof stage, let it be.
I was going to buy the game, but reviews are going downhill and since it seems devs are removing sh!t instead of adding, Ill better wait...
Yes, you can only play Grind as of now. All the other stages (Ring, Suway, Chutes etc.) will be made avaible later on as the developers update the A.I.s so that they'll be able to navigate stages better and more smoothly; for example most stages of the game have dynamic, moving/rotating platforms and the A.I.s only work with flat, statig ground, so untilt the devs update their patfhinding to calculate new paths that can include dynamic terrains then we won't be getting those stages. Also since they cannot jump they wouldn't be able to jump from acontainer to another in Containers or from an ice sheet to the other in Buoy and they'd either fall and suicide or stand here waiting for a player to approach them.
IN SHORT: we just gotta be patient and let Boneloaf do the things they need to do, except that most people don't appreciate Boneloaf developement plan/priorities AND they are unpatient, with a team of 5 people they can't go THAT fast, you know...
A bit rude but pretty accurate.
Here's what I don't get. The AI already worked on Rooftop. I would wager that it works worse now on Grind than it did on Rooftop. And if it isn't capable of doing anything better yet then just keep Rooftop in there until it does. It was infinitely more fun and playable than Grind with its design and crappy camera.
This new iteration is in no way better and in many ways worse than Rooftop, so why remove it and why put this in? Neither is ready for the AI to deal with all the maps so just keep Rooftop in.
I've never been part of an EA game where the progress goes backwards.
'Moving AI to a more complex map is backwards progress'
