Ps4 Controller's controls 2 characters in game.. HELP please

I understand that this has been asked by plenty of people but there doesn't seem to be a concrete answer out there. So you turn the game on go into a game it says press a to join (i press x as im using ps4) and it logs in as player 1 and player 3. i try on my second controller and it logs in as player 2 and player 4. Iv'e tried remapping several times in the ingame input screen and it remaps to the keyboard and the controller so now i can control 2 characters using my keyboard and ps4 controller but my controller still moves both guys. This is very frustrating as you can imagine. Does anyone know a fix or a way of tricking the game please.it looks like a great game and when two of us play we just chuck one guy off the building or into the fire so we can play with only 2 of us but how is it gonna work when we plug in 2 more controllers I feel like iv'e wasted money so far.... can someone please help?

i know how. if you are using DS4 then go to the settings and tick hide ds4 then launch the game it should work after. it did for me good luck :D

where is the option for "hide DS4" and when you say "launch the game" do you mean like a match in-game or launch the acutal game?

If you use InputMapper, just close it.
