Note, after checking the store page, it's clearly nothing like Gang Beasts.
Is it similar to Smash Bros? No, they are both party brawlers about throwing the opponent off the stage but they play pretty differently (not only that, one is 2D and the other 3D too...).
Gang beasts is a pretty unique fighting game, that's INSPIRED by other fighting game but it's pretty diverse in the way it play, I'd say the closest thing to Gang Beasts would be Powerstone 2:

Whish still plays REALLY differently from Gang Beasts, and since it came out before GB does this mean that GB is a Power Stone ripoff? No.
It plays really differently: the fighting is a whole different planet (it's more classic and combo-y) and a lot of basic functions like moving, jumping and the reaction to hits are all more "classic" than GB, with things such as hitstun and not being able to use more than 1 attack at the time that Gb doens't have.
So GB might be a 3D platformy-party brawler like Power Stone but it's not a ripoff of that.
However I gotta say there are a lot of similarities between Gang Beasts and A Gummy's Life (separate attack for each body part, throw the opponent out to win, multiple playaer at the same time, various physics-based elements such as the fighting) and while it's VERY similar to the game and even the moves are pretty similar, the style and theme is different and the stages are more classic compared to GB's ones.
So yeah, it's really really similar but not a direct ripof, and if the keep making the stages in this old-3D-fighter style it should be fine.
if Gang Beasts was a person, I'd post "♥♥♥" on it's facebook wall
But I don't respect you, so I spat on my screen where your comment is displayed.
Lets not try and bring up past arguments; the problem was solved, let it be.
Also, they may have the same mechanics and controls; but the way levels are set up makes "A Gummy's Life" look more like a bunch of minigames instead of actual "levels".
