Thank you all for your continued interest and support for Lost Flotilla - nearly 3000 of you have now played the demo!

To help me develop the game further, could you fill out this short questionnaire[forms.gle] on weapon balance?

I also have another small bugfix / user experience update today:

One thing that's been confusing to people is what the S key actually does in the controls. It doesn't make your ship move backwards - it's a toggle for the engines so you don't have to hold down W the whole time you want to move. I've updated the little informational graphic at the start of the game and the name of the keys in the settings to hopefully better communicate that:

And since several people have requested it, I've also added a captain with no special abilities so you can continue playing the baseline game after unlocking captains.

Finally there's two bug fixes: the game no longer crashes if you have zero escort slots, and the kraken's attack areas are now shown correctly.

Demo is crashed on start

Hi, the game refused to run. Instead i get blacksceen and in task manager it looks like "idle". Anyone had same issue here?

Detailed patch notes:

Unlocks now make more sense: at the end of a run, you get all ships you cleared the minimum level for.
Fixed a crash when adjusting music volume.
Fixed a crash from confused tentacles.
Added a new ship for you to try, the Science Vessel.

I am happy to announce my new steampunk autoshooter game.🎉

It's called Airships: Lost Flotilla, and it's an autoshooter set in the same world as Airships: Conquer the Skies. You control a single airship from a top-down view, moving it arcade-style as it automatically shoots at enemies. You then collect the burning wreckage of your foes and use it to repair and upgrade your ship.

As is traditional, there's quite a lot of upgrade possibilities with different synergies. In the demo, you get access to three ships: the cruiser, the slow but powerful battleship, and the very fast aeroplane.

And once you defeat the boss for the first time, you also get three captains to choose from that more radically change the way the game plays. Zoe Davies massively increases your weapon accuracy, Imani van Knorpel lets you cheaply look for and pile on repeated upgrades, and Commander Yithrak gives you double fire rate whenever you get hurt.

General feedback

Some bosses feel significantly harder than others Off the top of my head, the Cultist boss with its agile and fast homing missile and the Clockwork Wasp boss being faster and more agile than almost any other ship in the game are nearly a guaranteed death for me. stun is a unfun death sentence

getting stunned slows you down and slows your fire rate, this just lead to a situation where you get stunned once, and now you cant flee or kill the thing stunning you, taking away any options you have of avoiding or killing the thing stunning you leading to a death spiral you cant escape...

Presentation Sugestion

I see that a lot of people are commenting on the gameplay side of things and that makes sense. But I wants to make a suggestion regarding the game presentation and fluff. What if instead of the symbol for the enemy faction each wave we go see a newspaper lead story headline? "Fakesburg under attack from dastardly Antichrists!! Will the dashing captain be able to save the town??" With a picture of an Antichrists airship or something else. It would, in my humble opinion, be more immersive and fit with th...

bug with A:LF and A:CTS

for some reason if they both exist in the same computer, A:CTS will just crash most of the time without letting me into concquest mode. I was only able to fix this by uninstalling A:LF.
