I will join the fellow reviewers here, the content is too slow to unlock, the fights are extremely unbalanced, and the 'fun' part is difficult to find, for me at least, I don't think I can recommend this right now, I might have a lot of fun with all the content and a better balanced roguelike mode, right now ? Nope.

Sorry guys, but I don't really know what you were thinking with this one.

I've played dozens of deckbuilder roguelikes - the genre is saturated, so if you're going to wade into this market you need to bring your A game, and unfortunately Dimensionals is a C game at best, unplayable at worst.

The game's content is gated behind a frankly obnoxious series of "volumes" like a comic book series - a set of story missions you have to progress through to unlock new characters etc. I am on like book 5 of the Fire Dimension series in which you pick up Inferna and learn how to use her abilities. In this particular story, you are given no defensive tools whatsoever other than ones you randomly acquire and your robot's awful random defense allocation passive (this game loves random btw).

The enemies all do massive AOE attacks that get more powerful every time you hit them, and given that you have no defensive tools, you get hit all the time, no way to mitigate, no way to heal. I have attempted this stupid book THREE TIMES, each time frantically clicking through the cute but quickly interminable and unskippable dialogue sequences that accompany every.....single.....fight.......and every time I come up against the blob that deals 10 damage every time it gets hits (did I mention all your abilities deal random damage to random enemeies all the time? This procs that 10 damage every time).

The fact that this game's silly cartoon dialogue is unskippable is frankly an insult - I'm not playing Baldur's Gate 3, I'm playing a silly little roguelike with surface-level mechanics. At the stage of the game I'm at (and as you can see I've played for a full twelve hours) there is only one build - generating more and more rage and/or corruption to overwhelm your enemies, that's it. I don't need to see generic white kid flirt with a sexualised elemental avatar fifteen times when I just want to get out of the scripted story mode with its scripted abilities and characters you have to start with and get to YOUR ACTUAL GAME.

I've played Astrea: Six Sided Oracles and won with every character on multiple difficulties - this is not a skill issue. Me winning the book I'm stuck on is entirely in the lap of the gods, and I just can't. I'm done. Bad game, obsessed with its own whimsical, Saturday morning cartoon theme, music is repetitive and uninspired, art direction is fine, concept is fine but stale (Dimensions based on the four elements? Originality overload) and commits the ultimate sin - stops me playing, simply because I cannot play it.

Guys, sort out your story campaign - make it as easy as you can, and leave all the hardcore nonsense for endgame ONLY.

unique take on the deck builder roguelike genre. I think the greatest thing about the game is just how stylised and lovable each character is and unique in function.
