In order to troubleshoot the issue, please go to the following place (based on a default installation):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War III_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015 and re install the redistibutables that are within that folder:
vcredist_x64
vcredist_x86
Just double click the files and choose the repair option.
I've tried it and, sadly, it didn't work. Anyone got the same problem? I reinstalled all the C + + libraries in my PC, but all it does is opening the Steam window and then it just crashes.
I know this game is not that good, but it's still a shame, at least the army painter would be enjoyable for me :( :D
If u use win 10 goto settings "Virus and threat protection" ... "monitored folder access"..."Manage monitored folder access" ... "Allow app through monitored folder access"... set RelicDOW3.exe as exception. (maybe also steam.exe)
I've got the german version of windows10, so i dont know if all steps named exactly like i did. ;-)
Hope it helps!
(Fix workes for many Steam games dont starting/saving progress, like Sanctus Reach, or Hotline Miamy 2, to count a few...)
Thanks! I've already got a refund for the game, but next time it'll be on sale, I'll try this solution, it sounds like it may just work. I'll also try reinstalling some old graphics card drivers, just to be sure.
1. Close the Steam client.
2. Click the Windows button and type "UAC" in the search field.
3. In the User Access Control window, click and hold the slide bar —slide it to the lowest
setting available.
4. Click Ok at the bottom of the window.
5. Open the Steam client and try to run the game, if that don't work try installing the game
again with low UAC settings.
Thank you so much, I applied this and its now working, how did you know it was the Virus checker that was causing the issue?
Anyway thnaks you again, even SEAGA support couldn't help me with this one....
(Seems that supports round the world dont know the problem ^^ ,I also m@ailed with slitherin support, all running win 10 and win defender without havin any problems... But I couldn't play their games without that "fix")
(Did you try my postet solution?:
"If u use win 10 goto settings "Virus and threat protection" ... "monitored folder access"..."Manage monitored folder access" ... "Allow app through monitored folder access"... set RelicDOW3.exe as exception. (maybe also steam.exe)"
