This is just my opinion but, Combat Doctrines was (1) of the best new things DOW 3 has come out with that was not in the other DOW series ( I freakin know its not great, at its current stage; However, like i tried to say, it has tremendous potential) with that said...
Combat Doctrines should be a Space Marine, Imperial Guard, and Chaos SM Thing, im not saying the lame eldar and Orks dont have this but it should be different then the Human setup (kinda like your special attack how they are not exactely the same.
The cone heads should call it "precognition" So it goes like this your setup is not final you can change your (Doctrine) whenever the bloody hell you feel based on the way the fight is going (not that it will help your eleven army anyway, you aint got Khaine).
Orks can call it their "waggrh doctrine" or something even more demented. The Warboss (you) get to choose the setup, and when your elite gets killed you lose a doctrine until you respawn then get to repick what doctrine you want to have, and as an added bonus the more orks you have the more doctrines you get to pick (have a reasonable cap) this would make you choose carefully which fights your elites will fight and make the other player have to really commit to trying to eliminate yours instead of just pursuing a Listening post.
If they dont fix and make doctrines any better, then they really messed up any potential of making this game...great ( too much, fine Decent........hater)
Just think of the Blitzkrieg Mod or Europe at War Mod for Company of Heroes 1.
You have building upgrades but you also have this 3 Tech Tree System of Upgrades or for a discussion example here- Army Doctrine Systems.
Also think of Supreme Commander 2 where you have this Upgrade Tech Tree that can be brought up in game.
Bottom Line- You want "something" to do during an RTS game and the more strategic choices you have the more fun it can be.
Even the Tactical Cover System of COH and DoW 2 gave you a little something extra to do.
So DoW 3 takes away or limits your choices during a match and the "Pre-Selection" System and then leaves you with this weak line unit, limited Elite system, and a fast paced Micro-intense experience that gets old fast.
Even the Elite System seems inferior to what it could have been.
Think of WC 3 where you had the option to choose which hero you wanted "During" a match vs. a pre-selection system.
e.g. HQ Elites= SM Commander, Chaplain, and Librarian (only allow 1 each)
e.g. Elites Elites= Kill Team, Terminators, Assault Terminators, & Venerable Dreadnought more than one but with a elite point, requisition, & power cost to balance the risk/reward scenario.
e.g. Colossal Elites= Imperial Knights (more than one but a greater risk / reward cost set up.)
It's a like a slimmed down fast pace RTS game with a few Moba elements that feels inferior to both other RTS games and even a Moba game like Dota 2.
But yes we have the Mod Tools now. :):):):):)
It is the game I knew I was going to get, however.
Yeah, you obviously wasnt the person i counted to "we". I was basically saying, that people should just stop with these threads, its over. The forum should belong to you who play the game and can give valid feedback about it.
