Diomedes and Orion
Can someone explain to me why/how Diomedes managed to be promoted to Chaplain, and why Jonah Orion is available as an Elite? Considering the events of Dawn of War 2...

Diomedes came around, and being a Chaplain is a penitent position for him, since he must now run to the frontlines, with only death or victory being able to restore his honour.

He was already Chaplain in DoW1 and Jonah has a Library in DoW1 even

No he wasn't? He was a Space Marine Captain. He was still a Space Marine Captain for the entire Dawn of War 2 series as well, and an incompetent one at that.

His only saving grace was that he was so oblivious to the Chaos corrupting even his own men, that he was apparently immune to Chaos Corruption.

Jonah on the other hand was entirely corrupted, and you either kill him (which is now non-canon thanks to Retribution) or save him, where he still shows signs of being corrupted, and is presumed killed in the assault alongside Gabriel.

...Until Dawn of War 3, where the presumed dead are no longer dead.

Really then who was the skullface Diomedes character in DoW1 and whos Library was it in DoW1
Obviously its was Diomedes and Jonah . are u trying to tell me they look exactly the same in DoW3 and DoW2 as in DoW1 but are different people in the same Chapter with Gabriel ANgelos from DoW1? Gimme a break.

You could get different people being corrupted in dow2, I got the techmarine but all the squad members could be the traitor.

But, but!

Didn't Jonah die no matter what in DoW 2?

In fact, I'd have liked if Angelos had died too. Would make for quite some impact.

The Chaplain in DoW1 was not Diomedes. The only named Chaplain in the Dawn of War I series, iirc, was Varnus – pretty sure he wasn't even a Blood Raven, as he was using Ultramarine colours in cinematics (DoW: WA). Diomedes did not make an appearance until Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising.

In Dawn of War III, he is supposedly promoted from Captain of the Blood Raven's Honor Guard and 1st Company to a Chaplain of the chapter.

There is no canonical evidence of Jonah's corruption in DoW II (there's a tidbit about him being the only psyker aboard the . . . Litany of Fury? To survive the Hive Mind's assault), as the canonical traitor is Avitus.

DoW III expands on this a bit in one of the blurbs? It does cast a bit of suspicion on his "miraculous" recovery by the wording, if I remember correctly, but this at least is evidence as for what happened.

Diomedes failed to notice the corruption within his own ranks and sought penance after DoW II. There's no obvious link there to being made a Chaplain, but it fits nicely.

Opinion post.

Hey! Don't forget Reclusiarch Mikellus. He's also a Chaplain, if awfully Introverted :D

I can agree with Diomedes wanting to seek penance as part of some character development, but given that Diomedes was written in such a way that I just had to hate him for his oblivious nature, I find it hard to believe that he was promoted to Chaplain.

I mean if I was a Blood Raven right now and saw Diomedes giving orders as Chaplain, I wouldn't have much hope for the future of the chapter.

I guess I misremembered Jonah being corrupt in addition to Avitus.

Diomedes wasn't chaplain in any of the games prior to DoW3. As I already stated before, he was a Space Marine Captain, and never wore Chaplain gear until now. He even is the main character for the Space Marine campaign in Retribution, as a Space Marine Captain.
