I just realised DoW units is based on Warhammer 8th edition!
They announced the releasedate etc for Warhammer 40.000 8th Edition today, and i got a good look at the "start collection" box.

The new Primaris marines has a unit composition that differ a lot from the "normal" Space Marines we are used to play with, just like they do in DoW 3.

I hated how DoW3 spat on the established SM army formation/equipment what not, but now i realise that it is because DoW 3 is based on the new Primaris rules in 8th Edition, and not the current WH40K game.

Look at the Hellblaster squad for example.

No, Gabriel is not a primaris, not (do i think) are the Blood Ravens, but when the devs made the game they looked at the primaris units in the tabletop game and made the marine squads in their image.

Yeah, primaris space marines, not standard space marines. If you want to tell me, that in game are primaris space marines that get one shottet by an ability, it would be way worse than just using standard space marines with the same weapon option. Also, where is the leader of the squad again? Right, not in DoW 3.

Do you guys even understand what a primaris is? Its not a promotion, its a whole new kind of space marine. A standard space marine cant be made into a primaris and only the ultramarines had the primaris at first. There isnt even an official statement, if other chapters are using them.

The Marines in DOW 3 also dont wear mark x power armor which the primaris marines should wear. Also primaris space marines DONT replace the whole chapter marines (but you can have a full primaris army if you want) they just help the existing marines.

And you can attach the primaris space marines to ALL codex chapters.

Primaris Space Marines FAQ: ( i dont link it directly because steam wont let me link it)

I have an <insert favourite Chapter> army. Can I field Primaris Space Marines?
Any of the galaxy’s many hundreds of Codex Chapters can use Primaris Space
Marines, along with many of the less Codex-compliant ones like Dark Angels, Blood
Angels and Space Wolves.

Can I use these guys alongside my Astra Militarum army?
Yeah you can. These new Space Marines will be available to use alongside all Imperial
armies to fill some battlefield roles your army might normally struggle with.

Yeah, expected that they will be usable in any other chapter, but i was more talking about the lore and didnt see an official statement that other chapters are already using them. I also never said, that primaris are replacing standard marines. I guess my english still needs some work. But good informations, nontheless.

Probably a safe bet we'll be seeing 8th Edition stuff as expansions/dlc.
The main menu has a CHECK OUT OUR MINIS banner that pops up for cryin out loud.
kampfer91 May 23, 2017 @ 4:58pm
Can't wait to see primaris SM get chopped off by a lowly ork boy.

Just like Tac marine in DoW 3 :P

No, thats not what i meant :) i just wanted to give 2 additional points which you dont have wrote in your answer at the comment from "ESC | SoulFlayer" why DOW3s marines are not primaris marines with the 1st part of my comment. :)

AND for the lore:

Oh, yea, thats right. but at least we know from the FAQ that there will be a crusade. Sadly there is no information about which chapters are part of the crusade besides of the ultramarines which i think must be part of it because thair primarch is also part of the crusade if Gulliman at all takes his chapter with him and not only the primaris marines but the FAQ also dont give a answer for this question :)

Do the Primaris Space Marines play nice with the Adeptus Custodes?
They sure do. Many of the Emperor's elite golden guard are accompanying Gulliman
and the Primaris Space Marines on the Indomitus Crusade.

Good post op. Imo the entire space marine faction is based on the blood ravens even if you choose different army painter their voice lines and even the announcer will always be tied to the blood raven voice lines and look(the actual armor and weapons not the color/emblem).
Harukage May 24, 2017 @ 1:23am
Indomitus is not just a crusade. It is meant as a global thing in the Rise of Primarch. Guilliman is out for some serious chaos beating, and his is intending to wipe every chaos worshiper out there. Read Indomitus Crusade as the next Great Crusade.
He is even allied with Ynnari eldar faction ffs, and they have like every real eldar hero in the universe among them, including Yriel, Ulthran, Jain Zhar and Asurmen.
I bet every SM chapter and every free military asset are bound to join the crusade.

The lore has turned to utter ♥♥♥♥ tbh. Unless there is some sort of inquisition against Primaris SM which would be good and lore friendly imo

Why this? i mean it seems legit for me that the adeptus mechanicus develope the primaris marines in the last 10000 years. Why should the inquisition be agianst them? They are just advanced versions of the SM.

Though DoW3 marines do not have primaris marines new armour nor the bolter, also they are supposed to be BETTER and DoW3 tactical marines are not that good :P I really doubt DoW3 has anything to do with the primaris marines.
