Game crashes when enabling frame generation

My system is a 9800x3d and an RTX 4090. I have maxed the graphics settings and using DLSS quality to get more frames (playing in 4k) and want to use frame generation as well, but whenever I turn it on the game crashes immediately. It has also crashed my computer completely a couple of times. Never experienced anything like this. I've seen folks on Reddit with the same issues (minus the PC crashing), but can't find any solution.

I have a 4070 super and its not crashing with frame generation on but it will run for a little while like 20-40 minutes then randomly crashes. With generation off I get less FPS but generally the game will still crash randomly its been doing that since December of 2024 look at the other threads. Sometimes it runs 1 hr sometimes 6 hours sometimes 20 minutes. ITs the game and its not steam because I have ubisoft premium and it also does it.

Download this if you actually want to play the game. Its the only way because developers wont fix it they are too busy working on assassin creed shadows which will also be broken most likely. Thank God for modders

The game is installed on an SSD already. None of the steps in your troubleshooting guide did anything for me.

They are out of touch they know its frame generation causing the issue they know its Direct 3d issues and they know its DLSS issues. Problem for me is with the mod the game is ugly even with the fidelity whatever on. After I have seen what it looked like on ultra with dlss I am ruined it was so immersive too bad they wont fix it and the game crashes every 20 mins. So I uninstalled, I can't play it ugly, I mean I literally saw the dust in the air shining that's how beautiful this game is in DLSS Quality. They only respond with generic troubleshooting crap even if you send them your Direct x logs they wont fix it. Look how many post about this their are even on reddit. It's sad ubisoft used to be the best.

Yeah, I tried the Vulkan mod, but saw that it disabled DLSS so I'm not gonna use it. I'll just refund the game. Not worth spending my time on this.

Can you let us know if the game was crashing only with frame generation enabled but not when you were using only DLSS upscaling?

Also, are you using the latest version of Windows 11?

If you decide not to refund it and try some other steps, I would ask you to submit a support ticket with diagnostic files from your PC. It helps the game team to work on issues if they have this information.

I didn't experience any issues with DLSS upscaling. It was only when frame generation was enabled that it crashed. More often it would crash my entire system.

I'm using the latest version of Windows 11.

My game keeps crashing as soon as i turn on DLSS. all my drivers are up-to date and my windows 11 is up to date.
system specs are
-16gb ram
-installed on ssd
-RTX4070ti
-Ryzen 7 5700x

there should be no reason why my computer is crashing because of this. like I said, as soon as i turn DLSS on, the game immediately crashes. FSR and other upscalers work fine when enabled, but they don't look as good as DLSS. PLEASE FIX THIS!!! or I am refunding.

Hey there, I am sorry that the game is crashing when you enable DLSS. Could you please let me know the following info:
- Screen resolution and refresh rate
- GPU drivers version
- Are you using any third party antivirus/firewall?
- Is your PC overclocked?
- Are you using more than 1 monitor?
- What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
- What graphic quality settings are you using?

As for troubleshooting steps, if you haven't already tried, please try following these two guides:

- System file check [ubi.li]

I finished the game by using the mod forcing vulkan mode. It was unfortunate that I had to play it not looking as beautiful as it truly was created but its ok. I just wanted to let you know the game was amazing otherwise and it was a lot of fun. I am sad it is over. EA and respawn really butchered the star wars games the last decade so I was really happy that you guys actually made an enjoyable star wars game.

Well now that you mention it I absolutely love Assassin's Creed shadows. I was pleasantly surprised at the base building feature that I don't think I have seen in the franchise though I might have missed it. AC3 had base upgrades but nothing like actual placement of structures with decor. With survival open world base building being one of the top genres for pc players. I can say you guys 100% did the right thing. I hope there's DLC that expands on this with even more customization (I am begging). A lot of times gamers in 2025 feel what have I really accomplished playing (for hours). It used to be skill progression was enough so I really feel like you guys went ahead of the curb on this element with visual progression and there's so much more you can do. CO OP hangouts like a bar for your settlement with voice chat so can you tap the RP market as well (WE MISS AC UNITY CO OP!!) . You already beat Ghost of Tsushima even if you didn't add anything else but the listed element additions could make this a decade playability game like GTA 5. I just wanted to say the game is the best since AC Odyssey which just typing it makes me want to load it and mod it up and playthrough again!
