Glad to hear. Means I am not crazy ^^
Hey Sledge Hammer!
Thank you for sharing this workaround.
Please keep us updated on your sessions without (hopefully) new crashes.
If it turns out this is a stable workaround, I will forward it in the internal investigation ticket, to give the game team something to look into.
Sorry, it's gone back to crashing intermittently. It seems like these various workarounds only work one or two times and then the crashes come back. It does seem to have something to do with DirectX though, you might recommend to the developers that they add the option to run the game through Vulkan, or allow disabling ray tracing.
Update: Well, sorry to say, but it still works. Played for three hours now. No crashing. I really wonder why it is working for me.
Noted. We'll pass this feedback over to the team. As soon as we have an update from the team on a resolution we'll return to the thread to let yourself and other players know.
A while ago, I installed a mod, but uninstalled it because I did not really liked the look.
But I kept the mod loader dll in my outlaws directory (it is on nexusmods [www.nexusmods.com]
It does not only allow loading of mods. It also adds enabled disk cache and adds high cpu and i/o priority to outlaws
Maybe that actually helped. And it would expain why my outlaws is pretty much running stable.
We cannot really advise using mods or their particular files, however, we will keep an eye on it.
If you would like to test it, move this dll file to desktop and try if the game immediately starts crashing again without it.
If you don't want to risk it, that's fine. I understand.
Well, I did, and so far, still no crashes.
But onyl if I start uconnect and the game as admin, directly from the game dir.
If I launch the game via uconnect, I'm only getting an endless splash screen. The game itself won't even start.
Very weird. But I can't even recreate the ingame crashes anymore it seems. I even had crashes when the game ran for 60 seconds in the past. But now, with that method(both, uconnect and game as admin), nothing.
Really strange.
I had one crash so far. After deleting the shader folders in documents/mygames/Outlaws, everything is back to normal again. Played for hours
So, this is still a bit of a puzzle to me and you probably wonder why I still care. Well, I do like a good puzzle^^
So, if anyone has similiar problems I suggest you should combine the solutions together for now
Delete the ShaderByteCode and ShaderCache folder in /documents/my games/Outlaws and run uconnect as admin and run the game directly as admin from the game directory(not via the launcher). (making a batch file for all this is an alternative of course)
Thank you for all this workaround information.
This is very interesting. Does it involve any modified dll files or it's just Ubisoft Connect vanilla version?
Feel free to advise this method to other players.
When manually save a game, the game does offer me to upload that savegame to the cloud. I so guess I have automatic cloud upload disabled or it is just off via that method.
Anyway, thanks for the answer :)
I still have the crash to desktop. Workarround doesnt help :,(
what I have done:
- Windows 11 up2date
- Nvidia driver up2date
- Start as Admin
- deleting shader folder
- disconnected start...
- Virtual memory fixed set (min 1,5x ram; max 3x ram)
- Ram checked, 32GB
- Cooling Pad under the Notebook
- Graphic settings on low
- one drive (folder are local available)
- checked inet connetion
- fresh install win 11
- verify game files
- reinstall game
sometimes game doesnt start (while stating outlaws.exe from game folder; starting from desktop; starting from ubiconnect). Secure start via Geforce Experience....hm
But also crash to desktop. Sometime while loading savegame or maybe loading an new area... No error messages, no crash report. Also in Windows eventcenter nothing. SSD checked, no corrupted sectors or something else...
Sometimes I have an TMP Modul error. But also there driver up; windows in running well; encryption works... device manager no trouble...
I cant use the vulcan driver beause I have a RTX4070... need help
Hey Dirty_Guggi,
Sorry to hear it that no workaround helped you so far.
Apart from these workarounds, have you tried the basic PC troubleshooting yet?
Just in case, please try all the steps from our PC troubleshooting guide:
Troubleshooting technical issues on PC[www.ubisoft.com]
Disable ALL 3rd party, unnecessary applications running in the background, especially 3rd party overlays like GeForce Experience, Overwolf and Discord.
Disabling background applications on PC[www.ubisoft.com]
Make sure you update not only your graphics card drivers but also check for ALL available updates to your motherboard on the manufacturer's website.
Disconnect any additional USB devices, other than mouse and keyboard for testing purposes (any USB hubs, headsets etc).
Do you overclock or undervolt your GPU or CPU? If yes, please reset the voltage to default settings for a test.
Let us know if any of it helped.
I play on an brandnew notebook/laptop (HP Victus; i7 13620H; 32GB Ram; RTX 4070 8GB Ram).
- I dont have any Discord; Antivirus (Win Defender only); No Steam
- Overlays disabled (Ubiconnect and GF Experience)
- dxdiag without errors
- device driver and bios up2date
- Only USB devices is my mouse (Logitech G402); no external monitor
- Bios not allow me to over or undervolt something; I dont have any software to clock...
- Also GF Experience dont optimize the game. All stuff is stock/out of the box; Game settings are low
Sometimes I can play a few minutes; sometimes I play some hours. But I close the game only one time by the normal way.
Most of the time game crash when I die; When I reload a savegame or when I move quick in an new area (when game has to create more objects/structures or something else).
Game run realy fluid. I only have one time some frame lags.
There is another thing you can try(hope you tried to launch the game as admin though, but that is not what I mean)
If you have smart phone link on, try to turn it off. Just use the windows search and you should find it.
