Getting caught and losing 1K+ Credits is Terrible Gameplay Mechanic
This is the equivalent back in World of Warcraft where you would lose XP if you died. You're literally spending TIME to earn XP in that game, or in this game, doing MISSIONS for credits. Credits are nearly a form of XP since you don't level up, but you use those credits to buy better gear and what not. You spend TIME on missions to earn credits, yet you can lose up to 3 MISSIONS worth of credits (if they're in the 200-300 range credits missions) from being caught once. This is a terrible mechanic considering how valuable credits are in the game to buy gears and whatnot.

Just putting that out there because it makes you feel like you just lost up to over an hours worth of gameplay time to earn those credits in an instant.

Blizzard removed the XP loss because it was a bad way to punish the players, understanding they basically removed TIME that they used in their life to earn the XP. I think you guys should too.

I was waiting for someone to say that, but honestly, it's not just that. I've been caught from just bugginess where I'm Okay fighting them off and out of no where I get bust or maybe I trip up over something on the speeder out of nowhere. Just glitchy behavior and it can lead to this. It still doesn't mean what they do for the punishment is correct because again, you're losing your time spent to accomplish the missions making the object of completing those missions completely worthless if you lose what they earned you.

I'd say, strip the player of all their bacta vials and grenades or something, so they need to re-collect them. Not an impossible thing and not as annoying to lose. A better mechanic.

I think if it's the Imperials that kills or arrest you, then you can get the money back by hacking an imperial terminal to transfer the lost money back to you.

I didn't know that. That's interesting but still a PITA, lol.

I honestly like this feature. I like there to be some consequence to dying/being arrested. Also, as another commenter pointed out-- it opens up the opportunity to hack your lost credits back from imperial terminals that are usually located in various imperial checkpoints and outposts. It's a fun and interesting twist imo, makes it seem a bit more immersive than nothing happening at all when you get caught.

Plus, this game isn't the first to do that. That's literally how Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead handle deaths/arrests-- except you can't get your lost money back in those games.

I recommend just doing a handful of space jobs in the Trailblazer. Also, if you like to get in dogfights and frequently fight the Imps wherever you can start a fight... they drop a lot of duranium and stuff like that, which you can sell to some vendors.

After a point in the game I almost never ran out of money, always at like 10k+ credits. Just take a little break to do some side stuff and exploring. It's actually worth doing in this game. Almost all of the locations are totally unique and have good planning to how they are designed and laid out. Only a few vaults you find are identical-- and they're all stashed by the same people so it kinda makes sense anyway.

Anyway, good luck.

I can attest to this as I got caught during the Aila Bren Slicer Side Mission escaping the Imps FOB. Went to the closest Imperial terminal to Mirogana and sliced into the terminal to get my Credit called "Retreive Arrest Credits".
Yeah, this was somewhat an early posting prior to me understanding you can get them back by hacking terminals. I initially thought once you were arrested that they were gone forever. In that idea, I thought it was terrible. Once I learned you can hack them back, it basically removes my entire argument of my OP, lol.

Right? It's actually pretty cool since it's persistent-- imo it actually makes the mechanic fun and more engaging. Even if it's easy to overlook-- your criminality has a lasting impact... so it's not like the Empire suddenly has amnesia about you every time you escape them, or get out of jail-- which is kinda typical of most law enforcement mechanics in open world games. So, even though it wasn't ground-breaking or anything, it's a nice touch that makes the law enforcement in this game slightly more fun to engage with.
