Yeah maybe a shift token could have been used. Thank you.
All you've got to do is play the game and pay attention to the tutorials. It's similar to blackjack but you're trying to get the lowest Pair you can, OR barring that, keep the difference between your two cards as low as possible.
The gameplay is then modified by Shift Tokens in a variety of ways. Pay attention to the tokens played. Icons will pop up on the screen to remind you of ongoing effects to the board.
Make certain to use your own Shift Tokens to your advantage. (usually best to save this until 1 or 2 players have left the match)
It's almost never (except in tutorial easy matches) a good idea to draw on the first round, see what the other players are digging up, and discarding, first. Only draw on rnd 1 if it will lead to a good hand immediately.
It costs you points (I forget the term, been a few months) to draw cards so be sure to keep an eye on that total. If you win a hand, you get all those spent points back so don't waste a Shift Token on recovering lost points unless you're going to lose the hand.
Pay attention to the behavior of the other players, all but the very good players have obvious tells.
Don't be afraid to use your buddy to spy on people 1/game if you just can't figure out what they might have in their hands.
As you get better at the game, and play it more, you will win more Shift Tokens and Cheats to help you with matches.
It is not difficult to learn and the only time I had a problem was for one of the cheating minigames that wasn't explained well, and I did have to look up an explanation for that 1 rule.
Practice and soon enough you'll be beating Lando on your first try the way I did.
I think there's 1 mandatory match in the entire game? Two if you include the most recent DLC. You're not required to win either one of them iirc. I think you can muscle through it.
You know, part of being a gamer is learning and mastering new gaming mechanics. Just like the rhythm game lock-pick that seems to have angered a bunch of people. Games aren't supposed to play themselves, you do need to put in some effort.
Then use Nix to see their - cards then use shift token to trade hands.
1. Make a new save before starting a Sabacc game.
2. Swap your 5's and 6's for Imposter cards. Imposters won’t guarantee a win but will give you two chances at a lower number in a pinch.
3. Anything 3's and under is a respectable hand. Even if you don’t have Sabacc, hold onto those 1s and 2's
4. Definitely use Nix to cheat in early rounds and if Nix reveals that someone has Sabacc less than 3's or better (5's or better if a major fraud token has been played), stand.
5. Play the loooong game. If you go all out with chips getting a Sabacc of 2's but lose to a Sabacc of 1's, that’s still losing.
6. DON'T use your Shift Tokens right away. Hold onto them for when they can make a big impact — like when you can tax everyone a chip or two and especially when one of your opponents only has one chip left or when one of the players starts acting over confident.*
7. NEVER PLAY THE SAME TABLE TWICE IN A ROW AFTER A LOSS! (The House ALWAYS wins)
8. Hang in there and keep playing, mid game-ish after you meet Lando & you'll learn the ability to palm a card then you can start robbing players blind.
(edit) *Side note: The three shift tokens that I've liked using most so far during the long game is playing with the two Exhaustions and the Direct Transaction coupled with Nix's peeking and the ability to palm a card (KB+M is a bit of a P.I.T.A sometimes & I don't have Magnetic Dice unlocked yet), you can make a pretty good chunk of credits.*
