I absolutely *HATE* the rope swinging mechanic!
I keep falling to my death but up until now I've made it past those damned rope swings after a few dozen attempts. Until now. There's one I just can't get past no matter how many times I try and there's no going back so I'm basically stuck. I didn't have high hopes for this game, and only got it on the recent 50% sale but this is even worse than I had imagined.

haha is this real? I rarely say learn 2 play but Zeus's Beard my dude. Learn 2 play. Getting the timing is not hard at all.
You go near the grappling point, look in the general-ish direction, and press the button. How can one fail at that? Who switches the computer on for you?

Some of them aren't swinging puzzles. Some you have to use to descend.

I approach the ledge, hit E to grapple, swing across, detach and fall to my death. Every. Damn. Time.

Tried swinging with W and S? Also, running gives enough speed to cross those section. Also, and already mentioned, there are grapple points just for descending (with Q and E).

I've tried gaining momentum both by running and by using W/S but momentum doesn't really seem to be a "thing"; at least I haven't been able to tell the difference. Likewise, ascending and descending with Q/E should affect the swing rate (a shorter pendulum should swing faster) but this really doesn't seem to change either and despite being fully descended I still can't reach the ledge on the other side. The physics simply don't seem to add up and I can't figure it out.

One of the very first missions, where you first have to move this TIE fighter out of the way and then swing across, then jump, then swing a second time? I spent close to an hour getting past those two.
Don't detach. Press jump instead.

I initially had problems with the rope swinging as well. Then I decided to try and treat it like a playground swing and started "pumping" to swing more. I also realized that once you hit the rope button once. Keep your fingers off of it. I play on a PC so it was hit "E" then if I didn't feel like I was over the target I would hit the move forward button as I swung forward and the move back button on the back swing. This let me build up the swing. Then when I was happy, I hit the space bar and released/jumped off the rope.
Run at the ledge, hit the grapple key (E by default) to start swinging while STILL HOLDING the forward key (W by default) through the entire swing, then at the apex (top) of your swing on the far side, hit the jump key (space by default) to jump off.
Most of them you can do without much thought, but there are 1 or 2 jumps that need perfect timing; those are annoying. Having to do something so tedious over and over serves no purpose whatsoever, it breaks game immersion. You'd think developers really ought to come up with something more original, but then this game overall suffers from mediocre and thoughtless design.
