Tried swinging with W and S? Also, running gives enough speed to cross those section. Also, and already mentioned, there are grapple points just for descending (with Q and E).
I've tried gaining momentum both by running and by using W/S but momentum doesn't really seem to be a "thing"; at least I haven't been able to tell the difference. Likewise, ascending and descending with Q/E should affect the swing rate (a shorter pendulum should swing faster) but this really doesn't seem to change either and despite being fully descended I still can't reach the ledge on the other side. The physics simply don't seem to add up and I can't figure it out.
One of the very first missions, where you first have to move this TIE fighter out of the way and then swing across, then jump, then swing a second time? I spent close to an hour getting past those two.
