Upgrades question

Iv'e been meticulously searching for upgrade materials for blaster and armour upgrades. Managed to get a load of stuff but there are always *hidden* requirements and materials to actually make the upgrade. Is there something that will actually show me what I need to get to make the upgrades? and when Iv'e got all the stuff..do I need a special crafting station or place or whatever to be able to upgrade stuff?

Each upgrade will tell you what it needs when it becomes available, and each merchant will show you for each part they sell if it can be used in an available upgrade.

Blaster upgrades are done on the Trailblazer (your ship), ship upgrades and speeder upgrades are done at special NPC vendors (they are on most planets).

Unique items needed for the upgrades will be marked in the map.

The non-unique items can be gotten from chests during side quests or the main story or from different merchants.
