Game has been great so far?
I know Ubisoft's public relations have been slowly sinking over the last few years and took a steep decline all through 2024, but this game has been pretty solid so far. Reminds me a bit of those classic ps3 style games where a cinematic story game would just spawn out of the blue and be pretty enjoyable. The production quality is great and the visuals look fantastic even on my aging mid ranged laptop 3070 at 1440P high settings using the latest version of DLSS on balanced mode. Particularly, the real time cutscene after Kay first got in the ship and went into space trying to hyper drive away; it looked really incredible. Almost like a CGI film, but I know some of the effects get dialed up for those scenes. Still, it looked really great and the game has positive reception on steam from the sample count.

I realized I would not get any kind of sensible responses out of these forums to my questions, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy the actual game. The price is not trivial to me.

Within 10 minutes, I was certain I had made the right choice. In 4 hours I realized I had forgotten to go sleep when it was 4 am.

This game is great! Its truly unique in how immersive it is, how the camera basically never leaves Kay's side, when transitioning between cutscenes and gameplay, when I walk to a mission contact and start talking about a mission, when I go into minigames, never. This game is incredibly immersive. I wish Cyberpunk 2077 had made its missiongivers work like this: I just walk to them on the street and start talking.. and there is no camera change, no loading.

I think it only shows the general insanity of the society that this game gets so much flak. Seemingly for no reason at all. I think most of the complainers complain about Ubisoft and don't even own the game :steamfacepalm:

Ive only ran into one bug during this time: I once managed to slip inside the geography when trying to climb a rockwall that wasnt supposed to be climbed.

Despite preview reports, I could switch off raytracing which was the main worry for me. My old computer struggles with this game, but its still more playable than Hogwarts legacy was performancewise. Its FLUID. Everything works and is beautiful. I love it. I would say this is has the BEST parts of an Ubisoft action RPG. Ive played a huge number of games with similar graphics that are optimized worse.

I came to write this first thing when I got out of bed in the morning cause otherwise nobody would know and now Im going to dive back in and forget the world. Bye.
