Analysis of Failure
I’ve been conducting my own research. Here is what I have learned. Unlike Ubisoft, i have been listening to real gamers who actually spend money, the real gaming community….

1. Ignoring Steam players — Making them wait to play games everyone else has access to months earlier has caused a lot of righteous indignation.

2. Creating a bland protagonist. People want to play as a cool character such as Han Solo, Mara Jade, Boba Fett or Princess Leia, Ahsoka, or Luke Skywalker. Not a frumpy spinster.

3. Broken game. The game was a buggy mess and not at all fun to play according to many players.

4. The tired Ubisoft formula. People are burned out on what they now call UBISLOP — After decades of Assassins Creed-like gaming they want something new and fresh, not just a SW skin.

5. Taking away ownership. Their ceo has declared war on gamers telling us to get comfortable not owning our games. People instead became comfortable not buying Ubisoft games.

6. A lack of humility and repentant attitude. Ubisoft come across as proud and aloof, unable or unwilling to engage constructively with the very gamers who loyally bought their games for decades.

7. Racist behaviour. Somehow they have managed to offend Japanese gamers with their upcoming AssCred Shadows game. They are now perceived as a racist company that doesn’t respect all gamers.

8. Sexual assault. A culture of sexual abuse has been allowed to fester inside the company and many allegations and complaints have surfaced. For many, Ubisoft is now a toxic company that needs to clean house and start respecting women again.

9. Grifting. 3 day early access fomo, season passes, loot boxes “surprise mechanics”, in-game purchases, etc… all feel like a grift and a ploy to part gamers with their hard earned money at the expense of genuine game innovation and unique single player narrative driven experiences.

10. Denuvo. Countless AAA games sell incredibly well on Steam without system damaging software such as the recently released Stalker 2. This doesn’t stop piracy, it displays a lack of respect and trust in your customers, Ubisoft.

It all feels like a house of cards beginning to fall, a critical failure point. It was a long time coming, we all saw it, but for Ubisoft it was business as usual, until it wasn’t.

I agree with Batman.

Forgot to say that anyone who disagrees with them end up being censored, just because most gamers don't care or support their bigotry about DEI and similar stuf in games.

Ubisoft forgot about making good games and only care about their political agenda.

Also, Denuvo still being used, that's lame.

Does your research include playing the game yourself?

The way that you wrote that, it sounds like you haven't played the game at all.

I've played it for 232 hours and 47 minutes, so I don't need to listen to anybody.

It wasn't a buggy mess. The first time that I played it I had no issues.

The second time I had an item stuck in the ship's trunk and two quests that I thought couldn't be resolved.

For the aloof robot quest I just needed to let more time pass then I resolved it.

The other quest was a bug. The jockey wasn't listed in the race program. To complete the quest you just had to bet on the wrong Fathier on purpose. Then the quest would clear from your log.

That's it.

---

If you've never been to Ubisoft Montreal or Ubisoft Quebec you should know that the majority of their employees are Black, Latino, Hispanic and Asian.

That company is the furthest thing from being racist. Like all artists, they create. They don't sit down and paint pretty pictures with the intention of not trying to offend anybody. Artists do whatever the hell they want. Or whatever the lead tells them to do.

Canada doesn't care what Japan thinks of their art. The same way Japan doesn't care what Canada thinks of their art.

Works both ways.

Being an artist myself, and a Canadian, I don't give crap what Japan thinks of my Assassin's Creed: Shadows Gold Edition purchase. I support our Canadian artists.

Although, maybe not BioWare Edmonton's latest work of art.

Thumbs down for Veilguard.

No, i have yet to play the game. My last Ubisoft game was BG&E earlier this year. I conducted my research to determine whether this is a game that might interest me and deserve my money.
I consulted numerous articles, forum postings and video reviews from a wide range of sources.

I have seen with my own eyes an incredible amount of bugs and broken gameplay mechanics, so many it made my eyes water.

Racists come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, my friend.
Perhaps it started off as unintentional racism but a reluctance to change the content of the game even after issuing an apology to the Japanese audience reeks of insincerity.

Forgive me, but i don’t believe a single individual can speak for two entire cultures of people; i am however saddened to read of your detain for our Japanese gamer bros. Personally i wish them the best and hope they find games to play that bring them joy and delight.
The Japanese have a beautiful culture and have enriched our own immensely.

No, We have a few insiders that have leaked a bit of information about this, it's not that there are sexual assault is rampant, it's that sexual assault accusations gets the "victim" job-security, are you going to fire the girl that knows ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about games but she accused someone of sexual assault, of course not, that's a million dollar settlement right there, it's a lot easier to get rid of the guy accused instead, never mind that the resulting brain drain kills the company.

1, 5, 6, 9, and 10. Those are my reasons for not buying this or any ubi game. And once ubi goes under i'll have to take the additional step and keep track of where ubi's execs go and not buy those either.

Isn’t Ubisoft a family run company?

So you are saying that just because your previous game was buggy, then they all are going to buggy? Or do you just assume its going to be buggy without actually trying it?

Or are you looking what others have said if its buggy or not and then believe its also going to be buggy on your system? Because same thing happen with Hogwarts legacy, being a hit or miss who finds it buggy and who doesn't.

So a 22 year old woman who isnt married yet is a frumpy spinster?

You like teen brides?

I was disappointed with EA's recent Battlefront games, too much greedy stuff in them, so I'm concerned with pulling the plug with this one.

Huh? How did you come to this conclusion?
BG&E isn’t buggy. I never said that. I said it was the last Ubisoft game I played.
I said I read and watched a cornucopia of articles, blogs, and videos detailed extensively the bugs and broken mechanics of the game in my research.
I’m a big time Star Wars fan so this game is high on my radar, but I won’t just drop cash without researching the quality of the product first.🙂

22? She’s clearly in her 30’s, possibly she’s transitioned? I’m not sure based upon the bone structure.

You can hardly call it Ubisoft slopp open world.

By all accounts the open world in this is quite different from recent Ubi open worlds. ... E.g. Youtube reviewers say that exploration is excellent in this game, as good things are found when exploring. That's opposite of all the ? on regular Ubi games, where you might find some useless loot. Or you might find more armour that's of no use, or a weapon.

We all know how this game was released but according to gaming-press, they have pulled a No Man's Sky.
