Like in other games .. this trend is called "uglification" and its been out there for years .. even in movies and west is trying to uglify anime etc .. forcing their games and movies to properly portray women like in the west :)
Who is this mythical modern audience? I’ve never met them. Everyone I’ve ever spoken to that plays games wants to feel empowered and play as super capable, confident, and attractive people. It’s the power fantasy.
Who want to play a game where the protagonist looks like the woman who works on the checkout of Best Buy?
Huh? Sigourney and Linda are far more attractive than this character model.
-Because they're afraid what five perpetually offended people on Twitter might say.
-Because they're trying to over-correct for previous scandals and prove they're one of the good guys.
To be honest though, from the game trailer it appears that she is not the type of scoundrel that would use feminine charm, smooth talk and trickery to get out of tough situations.
She'll just blast her way through, punch the crap out of everyone.
She does not need to be pretty.
The question is: Why we can't choose Species and gender in Star Wars video games anymore.
I get it that Jedi Survivor had male protagonist, thus next Star Wars game need to have badass female to keep it balanced.
I have to ask again though. Why players can't choose anymore?
