Black Screen On Startup
Temporary Resolution: http://steamcommunity.com/app/284160/discussions/2/537405286658685963/

I've just purchased a new gaming laptop, and installed the game on it for the first time. But every time I run the game, I see the logo screen and then when the menu should load, I get a black screen with a slim purple border on the right and bottom of the screen.

I have been unable to find a discussion that describes the same issue as mine. That is, those that are recent. I have found one from May that a developer responded stating that the issue is being looked at.. May? Really?

Specs:

Windows 10 64 bit
i7 5700HQ 2.7GHZ
GTX 980M
24GB RAM
128GB SSD / 1TB HD

I definitely have the performance capability, so either there's a corrupt file (I have already tried re-installing), a bug, or some kind of setting that is clashing with my PC. No idea.

We are aware of this issue, and we are still in the process of finding what causes that.
90% of the chances are that it's some external programs trying to mess with BeamNG, but aren't aware of which one yet.. (You know, each computer is different from the other, and that doesn't make things easy to debug, especially when ourself aren't able to reproduce this issue on our computers :|.. )

You can help us gathering data about this issue.
All you have to do is:

- Go to Docuemnts/BeamNG.Drive
- Delete 'cache.0.4.3.0' folder
- Run BeamNG and let it crash
- Go back to Documents/BeamNG.Drive/cache.0.4.3.0
- ZIP the 'crashReports' folder
- Upload it somewhere (mediafire, dropbox, etc)
- Post your link here

Meanwhile
What happens if you try to run the game from:
Steam/Steamapps/Common/BeamNG.Drive/Bin32?

Are you guys able to make a list of the installed programs on your PC?

I tried running it directly from the game folder, and the same thing happens. And when I deleted the cache and ran the game, it still goes to the black screen (doesn't crash) and the cache folder doesn't reappear.

Are there any other files I can provide you that would help?

Did you not read what we said? We can't do what you're asking for.

'And when I deleted the cache and ran the game, it still goes to the black screen (doesn't crash) and the cache folder doesn't reappear.'

My fault.

If you resize the game window, do you see the menu for a moment or absolutely nothing?
Can you make sure your GPU drivers are up to date? Also, can you try to disable the Steam Overlay perhaps and see if it helps?
davedeef Nov 7, 2015 @ 9:53am
@Noobatron have you seen this topic? http://steamcommunity.com/app/284160/discussions/2/537405286658685963/
there is a guy there who found a temperary solution to get it to work.
it worked for me.. i know its crappy but at least you can play the game.

@nadeox1 yes when i resize the game window i can see the menu for a moment..
im 100% sure that my GPU drivers are up to date. alo with the overlay disabled i got the same result... as ive said above there is a crappy solution to get it to work. please check that topic

Glad it's working for you, I requested a refund so no longer own the game. I will buy it again once this issue is dealt with.

This is all the information I can provide to the devs, so please use it to amend the issue asap.
