There are missions. It can be both a game and a simulator. Sandbox simulators are basically games.

It is very barebones, I do not agree with you.
i mean i have over 200 hours on career mode alone that would certainly say otherwise but i can understand why you feel that way. i have a love hate relationship with the game lately but only because i got a 49 curve now and they really need to update ultra wide game res.

scenarios, rally, career, unlimited maps and mods you can download.
plus isn't it still an early access game lol?.......
this isnt a "soft body physics engine". it isn't "barebones". what the hell? how can you call a game with accurate cars a "soft body physics engine" and ALSO call it "BAREBONES"????? boy you really gotta wonder what's wrong with some people.

Tetris is very bare bones, is it not a game? Pong, the first ever video game is extremely bare bones, is it not a game?

Ive always looked at it more as a platform to make up games to do. There are the preset challenges and "missions" but the main attraction for most of the people who play is coming up with their own challenge and solution. I really enjoy setting a fast lap time in a well built track car, then slowly downgrade the car and try to keep on my original lap time. Or trying to clear a off road trail in a family sedan. If you lack creativity or motivation in your normal day to day life, you will not find enjoyment from this product.

huh? you first ask how is this game and then you say it's not a game, what sense does it make and what is the purpose of this post?

you ask and then you answer your question yourself ... ok?!

tetris is a game, because it's designed for playing, it's challenging with rules.

in short:
GAME has rules and challenges
SIMULATOR is a sandbox that replicates something, like physics

beamng is a simulator, because it's designed to replicate real-world vehicle physics, in real time, as accurately as possible. it's a sandbox simulator, not a game.

they're trying to make it into a game by adding useless challenges and modes, but that's a mistake. they should stop trying to make beamng into something that isn't (a game).

keep it as sandbox simulator. instead of all this broken UI and useless modes, why not add proper multiplayer!
