Campaign Utah (2nd Campaign) How to start events?

So in the second set of campaign events, you start with a cutscene and mission where you have to knock a car off the edge of a cliff. After that its an open world kind of situation, and on the map screen there are icons all over the map with different events. Trouble is, when I drive to them, there is nothing there? What am I missing?
