How to have more fun police chases?
A few weeks ago, I discovered how to work the AI for most things in this game and love doing police chases/races with them. Unfortunately, the police chases usually end up with me outrunning the police/enemy cars for most of the course. I've recently been using slower and slower cars, but I still outrun the persuers. I've been basing this off of the performance level and I'm playing a performance level 5 car vs persuit cars at level 6-12). I don't want to dip too far below that as the cars will easilly be caught and make it also boring. I usually spawn persuit cars about 30ish feet behind my car in most cases and sometimes they do reach me, but spin out or try to pit me and fail or succeed, but I usually slip away. Is there any ideal course or car to be used by me or persuers? I am using vanilla courses and vehicles btw. Big thanks for any help!

you sure you just dont need a better pc to handle all of the different cars? not really a better pc, but a more powerful processor with lots of cores

Oh its not the amount of vehicles thats the issue, its that traffic never works as intended for me. Like I just get like 3 cars going one way, and 3 in the other direction and they just go off into space. I can run 12+ vehicles pretty seamlessly.

have you tried it recently?

The AI in general still isn't very great, it's linked to the quality of pathfinding on the map you use. The AI drive better on some maps than others, some maps also have areas where the AI really get tripped up and either get stuck or go suicidal.

It's extremely difficult for the AI to chase you versus them just taking a normal cruise on their own, they usually can't keep up in most areas. I find that if you're the one doing the chasing, it's much better and can go a lot longer.

I recommend using the AI Traffic app, it really helps sometimes as there is an option to turn on AI Awareness which makes them avoid crashing into other vehicles. Sometimes I can get amazing chases where the AI bobs and weaves seamlessly through heavy traffic while keeping a good speed.

Hopefully the developers will keep working on the AI in the future.

the thing with beamNG a.i is, that they don't cheat. they drive the same cars as you do. their cars handle the same way yours does. i.e in forza you can see the a.i driving formula drift cars without drifting constantly. or just understeering.

Yeah, basically this. I only do AI on official maps (West coast and italy and the super 8 in the demo fields). I mean, the AI is okay, but could be improved. Sometimes the cars will catch me right off the bat, sometimes they'll all end up wrecking themselves, and sometimes they'll be in a kind of loop where i can't reach them and they can't reach me.

I haven't tried traffic in a while, But that's really not the issue for me. My main problem is that I always seem to outrun them even in significantly worse cars. (Like Performance value 5 vs 6-12 on their side). I don't want to downgrade it too much, beacuse if I do then it's hardly a chase of it lasts a few seconds and its a pretty feel-bad moment if it took a few minuites to set up.
