Car Start/Stop system.
So I was searching for a stop start system as a cool addition to my mod collection. I found one but it only supports ETK I4 and I6 engines. There's a tutorial (for adding stop start to any car) which I can't really understand, so I was hoping if anyone could help me out here.

Being honest here, it's a dumb feature IRL and would be a dumb one in-game aswell

It's cool and realistic. What is the tutorial you found I may be able to help.

I see now, I'll mess around with it and see if I can get it adapted to a other vehicle and let you know

I know. It's one of these things that you will either like or dislike. I personally think it's fun.

"dumb feature IRL" when absolutely isn't. Start/stop systems work to save fuel whilst idling for prolongued periods of time, and with the efficiencies of modern engines it's a perfectly viable feature in a car, and your wallet will thank you for the money saved in the long-term.

The 1 cent saved when waiting for a minute at a red light? Yeah, doesn't seem like a very good reason. Also, it takes more fuel starting the engine than letting it idle for a few secs, aswell as the wear being bigger when needing to start the engine again than letting it idle.

It's not just one cent, it's more, and from a full tank to empty you gain quite a bit with the feature. With modern engines it's highly unlikely it uses more fuel in the startup (which is also a very quick process), with the fuel already in the system being used to start up.

Fine. Then it's 10€... in 1 year. And the fact that turning the engine on/off all time, increases the component wear, isn't really worth it. Wouldn't wanna spend tons of money on changing engine components. Already been through that because the former owner use cheap fuel and ruined the spark plugs.

im a mechanic and around here we have alot of modern "Lease" cars and for that it doesnt matter, stuff breaks? just bring it back to the leasing company. to those people it doesnt matter if the engine wears faster, theyll just get a different car if that one breaks.

also we have some of the highest gas prices around the world here.

And that's "so good" for the economy isn't it. Even if something doesn't really belong to you, you shouldn't be careless about it. And really now, gas is quite pricy where you live but that's no excuse to buy "cheap" fuel.

He's not saying to be careless about a vehicle, he's saying it's just nature for cars to have breaking components, but the start/stop feature won't make it especially easy to break
