THE GAME IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR LEARNING TO DRIVE A REAL CAR. You can use it to get into the mindset and generally practice learning how the different things work (e.g. how to use a manual gearbox, without worrying about breaking your actual car), but no further than that.
Do a full visual neck rotation , Look at your Rear right blind spot, Rear side mirror, Center Rearview mirror - > continue to Alternative side Side mirror, and then left blindspot,
Playing on your phone while gaming/ is not going to emulate good behaviours while driving,
hence, this game is a game, and the real life driving experience , will be boosted by knowing your vehicle, and having confidence in your driving abilities and previous experiences to make your commutes happen.
Always keep your eyes on the road.
Always put on your safety belt,
Always check your mirrors before reversing,
|Do not wear hoodies while driving - or anything that impairs your vision,
Drive with your lights on -> So other people can better estimate your distance between you and them when you're facing each other, ;)/ single lanes /side by side ,etc.
Driving a car for personal purposes in normal traffic IRL is super easy, even on manual shifting.
That's why you are even allowed to drive one with a little bit of booze in your blood, but only a little bit.
The feedback of the car does most of the telling for you, a simulation lacks that.
You don't have to worry about learning how to drive. Pretty much anyone can do it...
...which sometimes is a bad thing lol.
P.S.:
IRL, just don't shift into reverse while still having forward momentum, the hardware can take some of it, but it's not good to do it.
(There are people out there who...apparently thought that was just possible and wrecked their stuff with it. Like going 50mph or more and just shifting into reverse, lmao... that's a recipe for losing money on repairs best case scenario...)
And shift into neutral on red lights instead of keeping the clutch pedal down in first gear.
(a more subtle hint that just saves you money by virtue of not wearing out the clutch as fast)
Ah I didn't know that. I use an Xbox controller
Nice! that's exactly what I was looking for!
i assume, unlike some panicked individuals here, that you plan to use the game to practice shifting, steering and using the pedals, just like i intend to. driving isn't as easy as "anyone can do it", some digital practice WILL make you more confident when you start driving lessons, being nervous simply because you're a beginner is absolutely avoidable. the first time my father let me drive, i fumbled the clutch and shifter, this is enough to proof that its not as easy. YES that's why you have driving instructors but digital practice WILL save you time, no matter what.
i can talk confidently like this because i have competent driving teachers and took in-class theory lessons and they took us through all the beginner mistakes you can do.
Yes, I'm thinking buying this game because of that, to practice driving and practice the clutch "bite point" (I'm also in the learning curve) and having more confidence out in the streets.
Of course any simulation can't replace any real life experience, but, just like you said, its a good way to familiarize with regular driving.
Also I have been using City Car Driving, but the phyisics in that game are just not as good as this one or as good as ETS/ATS sims.
